I guess Bob Wrahght's not lettin' being booted from NBC stop him....have to wonder what my good friend Freddy Fermometer'd do.

They want to make people believe they (the parents and professionals) are the real autistic community rather than autistics themselves.
Toys "4" us?
I guess there would be quite few things I could buy in USA without supporting CAN or anything similar. No Toy "4" Me.

Smart Gareth. Time to represent the underrepresented, telephone style.

I have a phone! I think I can do this. But of course, my TSNP* will step in, and I'll never pick up that phone. And I have to remember that I am only 14 and I can only sound a little older by voice. No NT will take me seriously because of my age alone. ): And other weird things that can happen. What if they complain to somebody and the FBI starts talking to my mom about parental phone control? Blah blah blah blah blah? *giving you an idea of all the things that can race through my head in seconds the minute before I have to make a phone call*

* Trying Something New Paranoia

The FBI would do nothing and most likely would not be called anyway. There is nothing illegal about contacting someone to give your views on an issue if it is done in a polite manner and it is not harrassment.

Yeah!

... especially because I invented it, along with the "smteoimes foregt wrdos, EDIT BUTTTON", (improved)

Why do they call it "autism speaks" when it obviously doesn't speak for so many of us who have autism?

Because Bob and Suzanne Wrahght think it sounds cool?  RolleyesShy

Well it doesn't sound so cool when you go into it and realise that they don't give autistics a voice - it's really just themselves speaking and trying to stir up other parents and grandparents.

Autism Speaks has merged with both the National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR) and Cure Autism Now (CAN), bringing together the nation's three leading autism advocacy organizations.

Have they always called themselves an "autism advocay organization",
or is this a new thing?
I know that this  fits with their name; autism speaks has quite a ring to it. To me though an organisation that's trying to irradicate a group of people isn't best placed to work as their advocates. Maybe to you it's old news but the word advocay shocked me.

So where can I find a list of companies that have publicly supported curebie organizations or that have in other ways done things detrimental to our cause? Wasn't there some car company that backed curebies? I'm cheezed off with Discover magazine at the moment.

Who says this is a "heartbreaking disorder"? This is just insulting.

also, notice that the language implies that no autistics can understand this, as in we're all stupid anyway and 'trapped' and 'soulless'.  only people that know about autistic people and aren't autistic can understand things as complex as this, apparently.

The fight against Autism? Since when is it something to be fought!?

again, autistics not allowed (not like we'll promote their eugenics anyway).

Nice of them to compare us to life-threatening diseases (cough, sarcasm, cough...)

I just hate this stuff. Fortunatley I don't live near a Toys "R" Us anyway, but if I come across one, I'll remember not to get anything there (if this campaign is even in the UK, though I'll avoid it anyway)

i hate it all too.  just is a shame that there are people that hate us and don't really know us, and think we're just useless things that interrupt their 'perfect lives'.

i was going to buy something from toys r us last week, but decided not to because they didn't have it anyway, but felt better i didn't fund their eugenics speaks.

Do I smell boycott?  And since when they call it heartbreaking?

yes, and it gets worse with these eugenics speak people.  bob wright, king of autism eugenics, said that autism was 'the worst thing that can happen to a family', like it was your child was killed and replaced with a monster child with no soul and only cares for destruction, and the only way to reverse it is to make it behave like an nt to give it humanity and try to build the child they want.

I did a flyer on this a while back. Feel free to print out and post this as needed.
