So of course, instead of focusing on eliminating things that actually KILL people, like cancer, diabetes, and AIDS, we're going to focus on eliminating something that DOESN'T kill people AT ALL, just because it's more common.......

Sometimes I lose faith in the world.

Wow, my thoughts exactly.

So where does it leave parents with kids with rare and deadly disorders or more common but still deadly conditions? Autism is an important issue, but I think they have got their priorities seriously out of whack.

Pay attention to the "for further information" section

Smart Gareth. Time to represent the underrepresented, telephone style.

Why do they call it "autism speaks" when it obviously doesn't speak for so many of us who have autism?
How diabolical.
Could they read those two words?

I have a phone! I think I can do this. But of course, my TSNP* will step in, and I'll never pick up that phone. And I have to remember that I am only 14 and I can only sound a little older by voice. No NT will take me seriously because of my age alone. ): And other weird things that can happen. What if they complain to somebody and the FBI starts talking to my mom about parental phone control? Blah blah blah blah blah? *giving you an idea of all the things that can race through my head in seconds the minute before I have to make a phone call*

* Trying Something New Paranoia

well sometimes you need to do things you're uncomfortable with to get your voice out, so try to relax and just do it

Who says this is a "heartbreaking disorder"? This is just insulting.

From New York City to San Francisco, this series of signature fundraising events is expected to attract thousands of participants and provide families, friends and professional caregivers an opportunity to contribute to the fight against autism.

The fight against Autism? Since when is it something to be fought!?

Nice of them to compare us to life-threatening diseases (cough, sarcasm, cough...)

I just hate this stuff. Fortunatley I don't live near a Toys "R" Us anyway, but if I come across one, I'll remember not to get anything there (if this campaign is even in the UK, though I'll avoid it anyway)

Even before this current controversy, my friend and I used to refer to them as Toys R Pus.
great, now i'll only be able to get bionicle stuff at :shivers: walmart or the mall(<- the 2 places i know that i would compare to hell...). oh well, perhaps if they meet enough resistance they'll drop"autism speaks".
Cure autism? How about curing ignorance?
But... but... THE POKEMON EVENTS!!! T____________T

Anyway, didn't they team up a long time ago?
