The very first with apperently ugly teeth:

The second, identical with whiter teeth:

The last, more identical to the avatar:

I admit that I am not very good at making the same character over again.
I don't want to scare away parents who might get negative associations when they see my signature. That's the dilemma, I think this site have some great goals and I don't want to hinder this site of reaching them by scaring off all parents.
The one that looks like the avatar is the worst.
He looks like the guy that used to hang out outside my primary school.
Guess I will fix that one.
I never had any problems with your picture, other than the fact that he lost his beard.

I think he looks better like this, actually.
I have no problem with any of them. It's a bit of a shame that some feel the need to pressure you into changing it.

As for what I think would look artistically (note this; not "nicer" as in friendlier, but artistically) best: He lost most of his style in the last one (he looks rather nice, calm and non-devilish). He looks grimmer in the first two, which I like. You can however see lines and edges that are excessively sharpened on all three of them. What I think would look best would be to take the first or the second (or blend them 50/50), smooth (with smear/smudge tool) the sharpening-damaged parts of the head by hand (without giving it too blurry an appearance. as for the eyes, they can be made to look somewhere in-between the first look and that of the last picture by smudging the edges inwards a bit in lines following the circle inwards) and add the beard from the last one. And perhaps tune down the height of the grin a bit.

Once again, that's what I think would look artistically best, and meant as neither less nor more than constructive criticism of the art. As for what would be the most "non-creepy" and "acceptable", I think others will have better advice. Unless you want to give a very, very silly idea I got when I first read complaints about it a go; go with a grim look, and draw a pink heart above his head. Though that could arguably be very creepy.
erkolos--

You should use the one you like the best, but I have to admit I have a fondness for the one with the whiter teeth.  There's something both cute and devilish about him at the same time.

I accept you, Devil, I do!!

Metta, Jaye Tongue
I've improved the third picture a lil bit.
I find it strange that someone would get offended by your pictures. I don't find them scary at all. Are they meant to be scarry (to a certain degree?)

I like picture 1 the best. The one similar to the Avarar (and ur avatar) lacks texture and looks blurred...
Well at least the two first one got their intension partially fulfilled then.Big GrinTongue
The third one lacks symmetry in the face, which make's him look ugly in an unintensional way.
I've got used to the third one now and I think it is by far the best.
It looks less scary than the others but more creepy.
Erkelos, I gotta say that you're signature and avatar totally creep me out.  I'm not suggesting you change it, just giving feedback.  I've been wondering for a while what it is that bothers me about them, and I don't know. I just find them disturbing. Of the lot, I like the ugly teeth the best.
I think I will make a new signature picture sooner or later, haven't really drawn lately.

The next pic doesn't necessarily have the devil in it, but likely.
This picture is supposed to be the same character which I've has signature now, I made earlier in photoshop, picked this one because I haven't drawn lately.
