Meiloyn, I think it's probably the pants. My listening to Marilyn Manson was the reason students, teachers, and hell even the DARE officer picked on me.
Through many years working with kids, I have heard a thousand times "PE... PE.... PE...."
Someone once said that PE is Bootcamp for Bullies. I have to agree. There is a sick culture that often dominates PE classes and locker rooms -- it's like a Prison Yard mentality where bullies reign supreme...
Being controlled -or bullied- by people "with developed social skills". At least for me.
Saying "no".
Being afraid of being answering all the teacher's questions because everyone will call you a nerd.
People telling you all the time that you need to change.
Answering the teacher's stupid rhetorical questions.
Socializing with people your age.
Socializing with people your age.
Socializing with people your age.
Pakrat the same thing happened to me when I was younger. I just shrugged it off and didn't really care too much. I would've never cared what people thought, until they started making me feel bad for not feeling

Worst part of growing up? Realizing that 20-25% of your life has already passed

O.o Ok a coin involved in having to go is insane. Some crazed lunatic must have thought of the idea.
I agree. In 1996, my family and I went to San Francisco on vacation. At one of the restaurants on Fishermans's Wharf, we had to get a token to enter the restroom.
Tim
there a very heavy drug neighbourhood just a few blocks away from fisherman's warf- the token system is to keep people from shooting drugs/smoking crack in the toilet. sad but true.
what i hated the most was constantly switching schools. in grade 5, 6, 8, 10,and 11 i had to start at new schools. i eventually stopped trying to fit in and that actually seemed to help. girls were always 100 times more evil to me than boys- i assume it's the opposite for males?
i also hated the boredom. why are we going over the same material again and again! i heard you the first time! the primary schools i went to had "accelerated"
streams. this meant that i still had to go to all the same stupid boring classes as before, plus one extra class every day after school with LOTS of extra homework. ARGH!!! in high school they skipped me from grade 10 to grade 11, 10 weeks into the grade. wtf???
surprisingly, i thought university was the bomb. i want to go back!

As a broad generalization with many exceptions, girls are socially and psychologically vicious; boys are physically bullying / abusive.
Either way, school can be one fresh hell after another for anyone who is different.

So many times I wished that wasn't true.

Any particular reason why? (I'm a little disenchanted with the college experience)

people left me alone and got on with their own lives. almost all my teachers actually seemed to enjoy their jobs and did them well. i got on really well with most of my profs, who were also a little strange and pretty obsessed with the same subjects i am. what school are you going to? are you taking subjects you enjoy? one of the advantages of good grades is that it gives you first pick of classes- choose your classes not just by the class description, but also take into account the quality of the teacher.

I go to Metropolitan State College of Denver.
I've noticed too that I have alot more respect for my professors than I did for most of my high school teachers. I guess just I'm feeling discouraged because my campus is so huge and homogenous, full of all these people that never seem to give me the time of day. I'll probably transfer to a smaller school next year, and I'm sure that'll help. And next year I'll be taking classes in my major instead of general studies, so I"ll probably be more engrossed in what I'm doing.

i know what you mean about the huge campus- i spent 2 years at nyu. there were classes i couldn't take becase that part of campus was wayyy across manhattan. not being given the time of day also sounds familiar, but i preferred that to the hell of high school. do you like going to school in the city? i went to nyu because i wanted to live in new york, and although it isn't my favourite university that i've gone to, i loved the city and was happy there. when i switched from general studies to my major i went to U.B.C., which was amazing. it's an all around fantastic school surrounded by forest and beaches.
i hope beginning your major helps. what is it?
I'm majoring in, or rather switching to, psychology - I had originally been thinking electrical engineering but it had always been kind of tentative. I probably would enjoy being in the city more if I weren't in this specific city; I've spent the past 7 years here and I've seen just about all I need to see of it. The main thing is that there are three schools on this campus, hence its huge-ness and impersonal-ness. And I have to admit it annoys the hell out of me whenever I see people from my high school because they STILL never bother to say what's up (brings back bad memories!) Hearing you describe UBC makes me think that I would probably enjoy a setting like that alot more - I've spent my entire life in the freaking city!

don't get me started on vancouver and ubc... i should work for the tourist bureau. if you ever want any info just let me know. ubc is in the city (15 minutes from downtown), but "the city" in vancouver means forests, ocean, and mountains.
