I work with Dr. Craig LeCroy who is currently seeking parents to interview about what its like to have a child with an emotional/behavioral disorder, like Aspergers. Dr. LeCroy is a published author, social work professor and proud father. If you are interested in participating in this exciting project, please contact me. We are located in <location removed>, but I believe phone interviews could be conducted. Thank you and have a great day, Allyson Baehr

Emotional/behavioral disorder?
Your Dr. LeCroy knows very little about Asperger's if this is how he defines it.

uhm... AS isn't a mood dissorder.. Some of us are a little tired of it being mistaken for such.
I apologize...that is my mistake. He told me he was looking for parents of children with ADHD, Bipolar disorder, Asperger's Syndrome and other emotional/behavioral disorders or syndromes. I didn't mean to lump them all together like that. So please forgive my wrong wording.
And I do understand that it is more developmental vs. emotional/behavioral.
Why doesn't he interview the children themselves? They know the most about their lives, after all.

I quite agree.
People who are in charge of my "case" thingamagig always seem to ask my parents and teachers what I need, not me myself. Come on now! If you could just ask ME what I feel I need, this wouldn't be so complicated!

Actually, in my opinion, it's not developmental either. Another mistake they make.
It's a difference in personality.
Looks like this "Dr LeCroy" is all about social work - not hard science. That would tend to explain either his misapprehension of Asperger's or his inability to explain it properly to his subordinate.
When you are a carpenter with a hammer, everything looks like a nail, and when you are a social worker, everything looks like it is an emotional/behavioral issue.
I would encourage everyone to use google to research this fellow before agreeing to speak with him. I am not saying he is a bad guy or in any way disreputable, but the red flags are certainly up for me.
He is clearly no Simon Baron-Cohen.
Also, what is a "national author?" I have never heard of such a thing. Isn't publishing - and academia for that matter - a global thing?
I'd also like to know why he couldn't interview adults with autism.
Allysonbaehr saw it fit to ignore the "no researchers without permission" rule and posted this thread. They have just reported it and wish for it to be removed. I will remove all contact details and ask that nobody contact them.
