Ah, yes, but the minimum necessary for what? If we do have a genetic variation to our immune systems, perhaps that minimum is not sufficient for us.

There is clinical evidence to suggest that we have insufficiencies in:

  • Metallothionein
  • Dimethylglycine

"Metallothionein is a cysteine-based protein that transports metals such as copper, zinc, and cadmium in the body."
"Dimethylglycine or DMG is a non-protein amino acid found naturally in animal and plant cells. DMG is produced in cells as an intermediate in the metabolism of choline to glycine."

could you point me to the article you're referring to?

excessive copper effects not only the brain but the liver, kidney, and cornea ( http://www.emedicine.com/EMERG/topic237.htm ). i recently had a thorough physical including a liver function test and an eye exam. my liver, kidneys, and cornea are fine. heavy metals effect multiple systems in the body, not just digestion and the brain. if as was due to heavy metals, why are we spared from the broader effects while other humans are not? if we are especially sensitive to these substances and have diffuculty clearing them- how is it that only some of our parts are effected, and others parts abnormally immune?

There are a lot of websites that seem to suggest that something in milk can make aspergers autism worse, can't remember what its called exactly something like capsien. I do believe food and diet can play a major part in how you feel and act, so there could be something in it.

I think allergies though are most likely a symptom of aspies rather than a cause due to oversensitivity. I have hayfever and have found that too much sugar increases mucus problems.
have some allergies and intollerances, but so do NTs. Everyone has allergies, not Just autistics.

but most auties ARE hypersensitive, while most NTs are not, to some degree, so i can see why should say "allergies", shes just mixing the two up.
