I seem to fit all of the profiles for aspergers and all of the online tests I have taken indicate that I am an aspie, but is it really worth getting diagnosed. I have heard that it is more harm than help.
It depends on whether you are happy with a self-diagnosis or not. If you got an official diagnosis, support would be available to you if you need it, it could also give you piece of mind if you are not happy with just a self-diagnosis. If you do get an official diagnosis you don't have to disclose the information if you don't want to (driving license excluded I think), which negates the negatives, unless you are under a certain age, then it is up to parents whether the information is kept confidential.
No I dont think I want to, my search was to find out what was wrong with me. I think its time for a shift in paradigms. Its not what is wrong with me but why I am different, thus I see no reason to get any support. I am living my life as happily as I can under current circumstances so I am fine.
Why did you ask then?
cause what I said in my second post was thought of after I started the thread...
Fair enough. Smile
