This isn't news persay, but it is "media" - we all remember that poor lad who died last year (or so), after being pumped full of chelation agents for lead poisoning he didn't have.
But have you guys actually read the notes on the chemical they used, I mean, the full for-medical-technitian-notes - I'm amazed they even thought to use this stuff:

It's not FOR removing lead, it's for calcium overdoses, and in various severe heart conditions - it's not recommended for use outside of the direst emergencies, because it can cause kidney damage and worse, and the effects are short lived, and - I quote:

Unlike edetate calcium disodium, edetate disodium should not be used in the treatment of lead poisoning because it produces hypocalcemia.
It says right there - it's NOT to be used for lead poisoning because it'll suck the calcium right out of the blood and (Unless the kid just happened to have swallowed a bottle of pure calcium, or has no kidneys) it'll cause all kinds of muscle spasms, including as we saw in him - the heart muscle.
And yet these guys were cleared of any wrongdoing =/ (This isn't new news, that article is dated 1984-1997, long before he died)
