I Tend To Get Migraines 4-5+ Times A Week Could It Be Linked To Haveing Aspergers Or Could It Be Another Thing
I often get migraine when I have been in places with alot of people, I also get Migraine whenever I am thinking of doing homework. Only homework really, not other work.
they get rigered by lots of things mostly dim and bright light
but most of the time they just randomly come
I think it could. We are more susceptible to sense and to being hyper-sensitive to noises, smells, sights, etc. It's why I never listen to heavy metal- it gives me a splitting headache in no time at all. As a child it seems like I had migraines ALL the time, especially in association with changes in routine, social gatherings, holidays...all the things that were supposed to be "fun" resulted in my curling up in agony.

same with me sometimes

some things that end in agony (ussally) that are worth it:

  • Laser Tag
  • Bowling
  • Dancing
  • Roller Skating (In A Rink)
  • Ice Skating
  • Computer

NO, no, no.  The extra sensitivity to light, smells and noise can be part of the "aura" of the migraine coming on.

As for what causes migraines, some believe that it is allergies or other reactions in the body.  I will have to check for some recent studies.

There is medication for preventing really bad migraines.  I find when I am experiencing the aura or have some mild pain, it is better to drink something with caffeine in it and take some pain reliever than try to tough it out.  Then I will wind up vomitting and screaming in agony.

ouch! *hugs* No should have to hurt that much. Aspergers doesn't have anything to do with it, unless you count the stress as a factor. My father and his doctor were right about three common causes. Stress, lack of nutrition, and lack of sleep. Those are so very true for me because as a child I had them sometimes for those reasons. On the other hand, you might have some kind of seperate condition in your brain that causes horrible migranes.

Some fellow that went to a church in my home town had some problem with his brain that he gotten a migrane everyday. He had to take certain pills to stop them from comming so much. I had very bad migranes, so honestly I feel for anyone that hurts that often. Sad They are very unpleasant!

I meant to add: Thinking very hard, trying hard to block out annoying or distracting scensory or stimuli, or any part of your brain working harder than it should is stress and pressure on the brain. It's no wander more autistic folks get more migranes, given the extent of tremendous focus. People who don't have this problem just can't see it or tell that all that is happening in the brain.
my biggest problem with migraines is........my step mom

my step mom thinks i use migraines as an excuse (for what.....i dont know)

she also thinks i use "AS" as an excuse

anyway she says ignore them (thats hard to do)

another problem is that each migraine is worse than the last
(like how when you go work out and you slowly move the weight up)
Abscout, your step mum is ignorant. Migraines are often hereditary. They run in my family. My grandma died of kidney failure brought on by getting addicted to Bex powders for her headaches. Back in the 60's and earlier, taking painkillers was about the only thing that could be done for these headaches.
it's not hereditary because i'm the first in the family for this

I had that before. That's the part I hate the most about migranes. Soon as I see it, the worser I feel. Another thing I hated was that scene in the movie The last Crucaid. The Indiana Johnes movie part where they are going to the cresent velley, or cresent shaped cliffs. Anyway, that little cresent is what mine migrane sparkles are shaped like, so when I see that part in the movie comming I imediatly look away from it or leave the room.

Some people *can* have a problem with withdrawal symptoms from the painkiller medications, so you get trapped in a vicious circle:  take the pills because you have a headache, and then as the caffeine or whatever wears off, you get withdrawal symptoms and another headache, so you take more pills, and when they're wearing off you get a headache... and so on and so on...

It's worthwhile double checking what's actually in the medication, and maybe checking out some alternatives, to make sure you're actually treating the headaches and not causing them as well!

Go to your dentist and get your teeth ruled out as the cause:  it could be wisdom teeth or even in some people due to some malalignment of the jaw such as over/underbite or something.

As a teenager/in my early 20s, I used to get some quite bad headaches, sometimes affecting my sinuses, very painful, and also really bad pain behind my eyeball, especially on one side.  After a few years, they went and I got them rarely.

Years later I was reading a newspaper article about some medical research and there was a study that said there was a very small, fine muscle that went from... erm, somewhere near the mouth/jaw, to right up behind the eyeball.

I figured in hindsight that maybe that's what my headaches were all about, because -- again in hindsight -- I realised that they had stopped when my wisdom teeth came through.  If only I had known at the time, I'd have had them removed and saved myself a load of pain.
