Surely she would have had to be legally blind before she would have been "unable to find a career in geology"? I too smell a metaphorical rat and think that there was a bit more to the story than what we are being told.

It's the culture of death at work. Eugenics is okay, euthanasia is ok, assisted suicide is ok, pushing people to sign 'living wills' that state they don't want treatment if they become disabled is ok....
What doesn't seem to be ok in our world is 'defective' people wanting to live, being wanted by their families, being 'kept alive' by 'artificial' means such as food and water....
And if anyone objects, they are accused of being just Catholic/religious prolife nuts and the media is free to ignore them as if they were a tiny minority rather than being in the majority.....
