Maria Kanneria was rescued by Wojciech prior to the beginning of the story from an institution that would never allow her near an oven even though she showed an interest in baking, and they never acknowledged the fact that she could take care of herself despite the fact she could not speak.

Maria quickly started a bakery, and designs cakes for people for a living. She never shows her face in her bakery unless it is absolutely necessary, in case she ever gets recaptured and taken back to the institution.

Maria doesn't speak; she signs or writes instead. She can fluently understand people who speak to her though, with the classic autistic social clumsiness. She stims by curling her fingers in elaborate ways like Silentmiaow from youtube does.

She is also well read in myths and legends, and when she learned that the current heir of the Gotischer-tod pendant lived in New Britain, she decided to tell Wojciech about it by hiding a mind message in a cake. (I got the mind message idea from Aeonflux) Unfortunately, Ivannie (The antagonist) stole the cake, and used the information to try and take Matt's pendant.
That sounds like a very intiguing plot development.

I really like your character art.

Thanks.

I'm trying to twine the events in my story a little more thickly, and allow things to be explained a little later than I usually would. My most common mistake is to create too many events that barely affect the plot at all, and the story becoming very straightforward.
