I got some charcoal pencils for Christmas so I decided to use them to create this! My blending stumps are starting to like me less and less though. Dx

This is Jaku-chan from Meiloyn's Saga, which is a story I'm writing that takes place in a land called Tae (Ta-eh), in a feudal age, with many elements from Japanese culture.

It's basically about a boy named Jaku who runs away from his abusive family. He was shunned and beaten by his family because he was small for his age (he looks like he's 10 even though he's really 13) He was attacked by a plant demon and rescued by Meiloyn, the daimyo (a feudal lord of Japan) of the province, and a devil (meaning she has slit pupils, devil horns, bat wings and the classic devil tail). She didn't warm up well to the boy at all, but she gave him a place to stay at her castle (they look like this) nonetheless, until he no longer looked so thin, mistreated and pitiful.

The Tae-jin (people of Tae, people of Japan are called Nihon-jin) were becoming aggressive and violent. People were picking fights with each other over the smallest thing. Even the trees battled over water, leaving the loser to wither. All the daimyo and the shogun (commander-in-chief of Japan, ruled alongside the emperor) became worried, and discussed theories as to why and how this is happening.

Then Jaku, sent to a staffmaster in a village not too far away, cracked. Meiloyn heard that a serious outbreak of violence had happened in that village, and rode there to see what had happened. People were fighting, the village was burning, and Jaku had killed half of the villagers with nothing more than a wooden staff. He switched to a sword he took from a samurai he killed, and challenged Meiloyn to a battle using techniques he actually did not know, and agility impossible for his body type.

It was later learned that Jaku had been controlled by a force called Conflict, one of the several forces that keeps the emotions of the world in check. Conflict had gained too much power from the people, and broke free from the Realm of Forces, taking control of people, and causing every living thing to fight under its presence.

Sorry for going too much into the story. xD
Nice drawing! And an intriguing part of a story.

When I first came onto this site, I thought you were a lot older than you are.
Would it be impolite if I asked Vojciech's age?

Thanks!

I'm 13 years old. Most people do. When I was a year younger, the first time I met a Jehovah's Witness, I went into a long, complicated monologue about my theories of death and the universe. They thought I was 16. xD

Wojciech is either 13 or 14. Why?

I'm not so good at using charcoal, for I don't like getting messy fingers. but i love doing watercolors, pencil drawings, and computer graphics. This is my favorite computer image, and as you can see i shrunk this image to use as my avatar.

I like it. It's pretty.

I don't mind getting material all over my fingers. I've always done that with a pencil because I'm left-handed, resulting in graphite on the side of my last two fingers from writing.

Meiloyn, nice shading...I remember my blending stumps getting tattered from heavy use, and I loved the smell of the gum eraser. I hope you post more charcoal pieces...

*gets inspired to go to the art supply store & buy a new set of charcoal stuff* Shy
Nice drawing! I think I like it more than your graphite pictures. It seems to have something more about it, if you know what I mean.

Meiloyns art inspired me to go out and buy some pencils to practise.
I love your pic! The character seems to be potentially emotive, which I guess is good. I don't know all but I think charcoal is mainly used when you want to make shadows fast. I saw some excellent drawers in Rome who used charcoal to portray people, the charcoal helped them doing it fast.
I envy all of you talented people. I may have talents of my own, but they are certainly not in art.
Meiloyn---I asked Vojciech's age because I am still thinking about your drawing of "The Boss". I misinterpreted the drawing of him as being somewhat effeminate, probably because my idea of a boss is somebody who is fat, forty or fifty years old, and mean looking. I had no idea that I was looking at a picture of somebody in his teens. Sorry if I offended you by my misinterpretation.

No, that was a spinoff of Wojciech's friend Artur.

Artur is the same age of Wojciech.
