Hi, my name is Ryan. I am a 22 year old PPD/Austistic male. My real diagnosis is an abnormal chromosome. So that ruled out allergies, a drop on the head or vaccinations. I was put under the umbrella of Autism Spectrum "disorder" I'm not disorderly.
I live with my mom and stepdad in an attached apartment in our home in Brookline outside of Pittsburgh. I have no friends around here.
My friend Cailaen, that I roomed with when I went to secondary school, Hiram J. Andrews in Johnston, PA, lives in West Chester, PA.
He is diagnosed with ADHD/. We get along great. About 5 of us Hiram grads went to the NJ beach this summer. We were chaperoned by Caileans dad, and had a great time.
My mom and I would like to start a HFA/ASPIE group here in Southwest PA. She started a glass bead group in the Area. So she's got some experience starting a chapter.
I enjoy so many things. And I would like to share them with people my age. And I would like to talk about schools, jobs and life in general.
I'd like to get an HFA/ASPIE or any other high functioning people together. For sporting events, I love hockey.
Hiking trips. Pool. Bowling. Dinners out. Maybe get some guest speakers. People in the Southwest PA area that can assist us with jobs and education and group events.
If you live in the Southwest PA / Pittsburgh area please post your interest as a reply to this post. Then in confidence we can maybe swap emails, and get something started.
I am able to drive, and I have my own truck. I work at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh as an equipment transporter.
I hope we can get something started in this area. The only group is run through Aboard, and while they are nice, the group doesn't get together that often, and the events are limited. It's good for connections, but it's not very condusive to being self regulated.
We are sure that there are many of you in the area that would be interested. Please let us know.
