Funny, I never liked rap. one time,to make fun of rap, I wrote a rap song about how stupid rap was. When I rapped it to some other rap-hating friends, it was heard by some rap-loving NTs who challenged me to a rap off, which I one because their skillz were less mad than mine. So they challenged me to a secondonethe next day. While thinking of material for the second rap battle, I was approached by a friend of mine who rapped. He told me to join his rap group, the Society of Troll Slayers. My first rap persona was a slightly offensive Irish steryotype of an IRA-supporting republican named MC Mick. At ourfirst performance, I used a tricolor as a dew-rag. My second persona, which also made an appearance at later perofrmances, was called Ganstautistic, the greatest autistic gangster on earth.

50 Cent. for one thing, the guy is a women-hating, homophobic waste of space who sounds like he needs to clear his throat.
I do like some rap. Kanye West's new album is pretty good, and so is Common. Its gangsta rap I think most people have a problem with; underground rap, talking about social problems, is much different, I respect that. And I like Timbaland's musical work with other people, even if a lot of his own work is pretty dull. "Apologize" was a good song, if overplayed.
But I like bass, and lots of it. I like the way it feels in my ears, out of my headphones.

There was something of a golden age of rap in the late 70's & early 80's - De La Soul, TISM, Grandmaster Flash...
The problems started when people stopped rapping about small life moments or causes, and started rapping about themselves - it all just kind of went downhill from there.
I still think there's room for some soulful person to revive the genre - as long as they get some airtime starting off.

Oh and I forgot... Ms Dynamite isn't too bad... although... on reflection... that might be out of not kicking her out of bed for getting crumbs everywhere...
