Why would some people be upset if I told them some dead person had Asperger's?  And this person has been dead for over 15 years?  Like I have no business telling anyone and that I shouldn't tell other people.  Well, that person told me their diagnosis and I was nothing to them.  Is it all supposed to be a big shameful secret?
No, it's not a shameful secret. Yet some "confessions" should not be floated out to the public as if they were some pop-song, breaking news or silly joke ...

We should be very discreet when handling other people's private information.

What is confessed to you in your ears should be kept tight between your teeth ... (= keep your mouth closed)!
Why?  Oh sorry this message is too short.
As a medical professional, I am at risk for losing licensure if I reveal any medical information about anyone, dead or alive. If someone calls on the phone and asks to talk to a patient, we cannot even tell them if that person is or has been a patient at our facility.
If i say something to YOU, then what i want is that YOU should know it ... not the entire human race!

If i want to say something to EVERYONE then i would be talking thru a radio station's microphone ...

Are you biological-radio-transmitter (!) ? If yes, then you're not worthy of being told secrets, because people would be afraid that you would leak the "confidential" information.
So what are the rules for this?  I should never tell anyone anything unless they are breaking the law?  I don't work in a law office or a doctor's office.

I think I will just go back to not talking to people.  It made my life much more simplier.  I did not have to worry about wonder what people's reaction would be if I had this opinion or that.  I prefer facts to opinions but I guess I should offer neither to NT's.
M--Please don't stop talking to people. I have found out, the hard way, that it is best to avoid talking ABOUT people, unless you are praising them. Just try to avoid saying anything that could possibly be misinterpreted as being derogatory in any way.   This much easier said than done!  There is always somebody around who likes to put his own spin on anything that people say.
Somebody on this forum has a tag line which goes something like "I am responsible for what I say but not what you hear".  Not a bad idea to remember.
