I love all animals.
I love animals, especially puppies and kittens but those I usually see out on the street have their owners with them, and I am too shy to approach them. My parents would not allow me to keep pets, but I fed a stray kitten for a few days some time ago, before it (I am not too sure of the gender) disappeared. I like kittens in general, but I don't like many stray grown cats. Many of them have a rugged, mean and catty look, much like some people at school I can mention. I like dogs too, especially labradors and all puppies
I have a cat too. She's calico and white, longhair. And someone I showed her picture too says she's probably a Maine Coone (which is part Persian). She's in Australia with my parents and I miss her so much.

Tenaciouscj, your cat is beautiful. (I'd post a picture of mine, but I don't know how and nothing in digital mode anyway.) I believe Terry Pratchett had several canine characters in Discworld. Not to mention the orang-utan Librarian at the Unseen University.
Thanks, NyanChan. He was in a pet shop and for some reason, had still not sold at 11 weeks. I loved his unusual markings and got him but he disappeared for two days. We could hear him meowing pitifully but it turned out he was in some long grass next door.

He is very timid with most people but as I spent a lot of time at home when he was a young kitten, he is friendly with me. He looks as if someone has thrown an orange spotted hide over his back.

Here is another picture of him, with another of my cats, Mummypuss. I suspect she could be his daughter, as her markings are a bit similar to his.

And here is another one...
I'm not at all an animal affinity person. Babies don't do it for me either.  I think it's because my major mode of communication is verbal. I don't know how to do non-verbal and I'm not comfortable with it.  I despise getting licked by any animal (incl humans). Dunno why, I just do.
I don't have the time for a pet right now, but when I am able to manage my time probably someday I will get a cat. I used to have a cat when I was younger, and a monkey in my toddler years. Having viewed the 'pet dog experience' (my nephew had one), I'm definitely sure that a cat would be the easiest thing to handle.

Of course I don't actually need one, but what's wrong with helping a fellow mammal out when you've got the opportunity, and the interaction is as simple as hell?
Monkey? Super cool!

I helped raise a wallaby joey when I was 18.
I used to have pet caterpillars.
Feel free to add anything you think is necessary, and if you disagree with anything I say, feel free to say that too.

1.  I don't support a cure for autism, but I do support treating comorbids, speech therapy, help with social anxiety ect.

2.  Autism is an important part of who I (or my loved one) am (is).  If you "cured" that, I (they) would not be the same person anymore.  I (they) would be someone less interesting, and with less special gifts to give the world.  By curing them, you would be supporting absolute conformity in our society.

That's enough to start generating a discussion, I think.
Ugh.  The thread got merged.  Sorry, people.
