People who don't have Aspergers don't undertstand what it's like. That's what aspergia.com was all about. We need to take it further. What's stopping us from buying a piece of land somewhere and using it as a haven? Very little. It's asking alot for those who have settled down to move, but if there are any children who consider this the chance to create a community, please tell me and things could be worked out.
I think we could buy land from someone, although we might be able to get a donation from Bill Gates, who would understand our situation. Or we could start building roads and let people buy the land and build the houses themselves. And although it's improbable that anyone would pay attention, the Aspie community could try to get an independent nation-state. And we would have to make a non-Aspie school for children w/o Aspergers, but when they're 18 we could just send them past city limits or into some non-Aspie suburb. More planning definitely needs to be done.
Yea, we will have to tweek the idea ALOT in order to eliminate most flaws in the project, but in a 5-10 year time span, with the help of many Aspies and gracious normals, a solid community could be attained. The project would have to start in a country with a bit of space, so European Aspies may have to wait a bit(or just pay alot more, I live in America so I wouldn't know). But what I'm aiming for is an attainable goal, and, with everybodys help, and alot of changing, this could be it.
Hey, I read this article and figured you all could use an outsider's opinion. Here goes:
I think it is a good thing to take action and all, and i respect you all for wanting to do something about being different and everything. But I don't think isolating yourselves more is the answer. You say that we don't understand what its like, and you're right, we don't. But that's not our fault, its your's. Instead of educating us and helping those of us who want to understand what its like, you are running away from the rest of the world and isolating yourselves even more. By doing this you are just feeding into stereotyping and prejudice. You are trying to creat another human "sub-group". The world has enough racism and prejudice as it is, we don't need ANOTHER group of "different" people to hate. Its sad that it has to be that way, but there ARE people out there who hate every group of people that is different from their own.
Thats my opinion. I'm not trying to offend anyone, and I'm sorry if i did. I just want you to see someone else's point of view. You probably don't value my opinion much because I "don't understand" you, but as i said before, that's your fault. If you want me to understand you, I'll be glad to listen to anything you have to say.
Oh come on, you can't be serious. A new sub-group of humans? scientists have been trying for years to breed a race of "prefect" humans, no one has yet succeeded in making a pure bred sub group of humans. You would get a "Romio and Juliet" type scenario. Someone from your new race would fall in love with a NT and it would all water down until it was over before it started. You can't just say "Gee, what should I do today? I know, iI'm in the mood to breed a new species of humans." It doesn't work that way.
You're right, you ARE a minority group, isn't THAT what you people are complaining about!?! By attemptint this you are feeding into what you are trying to abbolish. Pick a side here people!
2 things. a)We're not trying to create a sub-species, it might just eventually come about. Depending on Neanderthol Theory, we might already be a sub species. b)It's Romeo, not Romio
Hmmm....so far I'm the ONLY person on this blog who has been critisized for his/her spelling. Is this your only way to retailiate? Stooping to the same levels you say NT's stoop to. You are such hypocrits.
I never implied that you were "automatically inferior". I think you may have it in your heads that this is comparable to black slavery. You seem to want a civil war or at least some of you do. And i would love to understand more about this. But you seem to have made it clear that reading about it won't do squat, so if anyone would care to enlighten me, feel free. IM me on yahoo messenger, MSN, or AIM. (I prefer Yahoo)
"I wish we were back in the days when you could duel people"-Zell Miller. Sometimes I wonder...
he is 13 or so, give him some credit for trying... how many NTs are this eager to learn at any age?
my attempt to ';make you understand' here goes:
(and my apologies for misjudging your age/gender, I have little to go on)
I think the problem here is that you are hearing opinions from two different ways of thinking here:
way of thinking #1) We want to be part of NT society, but we cant, because they dont understand/appreciate/tolerate us
way of thinking #2) We dont need NTs, we should try to separate ourselves from NT society to some extent, form our own city/state/nation/species (I apologise for introducing that last, it was supposed to be a joke, but maybe it has potential nonetheless)
and then there are a whole bunch of intermediate schools of thought, probably as many as there are Aspies. The rationale behind the first is that the differences between Aspies and NTs (i.e. our difficulties with social interaction) are not severe by themselves, but are made a major point of division by those NTs who insist on seeing AS and other ASDs as subnormal.
The rationale behind the second is that our differences are so great that interactions with NT society are more trouble than they are worth, therefor we should try to reduce and eliminate whatever dependencies we have on NT society and possibly break away, thus denying the bad NTs the power to influence our lives.

STOP DISTRACTING ME im supposed to be working on my ADHD paper... *grumbles, mutters obscenities*
see there you all go again distracting me, now i will be compelled to post again, im never going to finish this damnable thing...
Cheeez: stop and think a little before posting, use fewer emotional displays, be more cynical. You probably don't care, but your spelling sucks. Otherwise you are OK.
Amy: Cheez is 14. She does not have AS. Expecting her to express herself as we do is a little unrealistic.
*dons asbestos suit, prepares for potential flaming*
Amy's right. Lets relocate to the NT/AS interaction branch.
