Well technically, within the Empire the force itself was believed not to exist..how they managed to cover up the Emperor shooting lightning from (most likely) his various orifices and Vader having the charming ability to choke people to within an inch of their lives god only knows

terror and such)
Okay, as I recall, before G and A updated the site, the idea of this subforum was to talk about how or why autistic traits are beneficial.
Me--ability to focus and concentrate; good pattern recognition skills (this really helped me with a job I used to have....piecing fragments of DNA sequence together); fairly dispassionate emotionally, so I can actually be a pretty good listener because I don't react to the potentially disturbing content of what some people say (this was useful when I was part of an AIDS support group); am happy being by myself--I find myself endlessly amusing (this is good, since I've no relationship prospects).
Oh how bizarre--I started this thread, and somehow while I was writing my post, Ian got on. No clue how that one happened--learn something new about forum software every day

A thread and random post merged again.
Arguably my post is much more interesting than the original topic it merged with though ;p

I think my aspie traits help me to look at thing more objectively since emotions are on the back burner for the most part. my family tell me that it attributes to how well i can retain little tid bits and fact about certain things.
i dunno there are alot of good things that come from my aspie traits, alot more so than the bad. I wouldnt be here if I didnt believe that the curse was also a gift.
Just popping in to say 'hi'.

I 've found the same. Objective thought might be a key ability that AS people have, and one that needs to be recognised.
Another one might be that we are natural egalitarians: we tend to treat everyone equally.
"Another one might be that we are natural egalitarians: we tend to treat everyone equally."
Unfortunately, I have found that NTs in jobs like teaching or mangement like to feel superior, and really frown upon being treated as equals - my son has been suspended from school for doing just that. He WASN'T rude - but they said he was "disrespectful".
Huh.
My aspie traits lead to me getting the highest mark in my class on my illustration degree (I got 1.5 marks below a first class honours!) because it never occured to me to do work that was similar to everyone else on the course, plus I incorporated my obsessions with pattern and interesting found objects (like bits of machinery) into my work. I went off on my own experimental tangent and the lecturers loved it because they had never seen anything like it!
My aspie traits also meant that I spent almost all my time focusing on my university work, because I did very little of the partying and socialising that students are supposed to do.
I would also say my aspiness has made it really easy for me to learn to play musical instruments (I taught myself to play saxophone in a couple of days).
I also have a surreal Spike Milligan (ish) style sense of humour which (some) other people seem to find hilarious. Apparently that could be an aspie trait too....
This forum is supposed to be about the advantages of Asperger's. Here are just a few which I exhibit.
Let's start with the useless stuff:
Fastest time taken to solve the 15 square puzzle: 27 seconds.
Fastest tiem taken to solve Rubick's cube: 1 minute, 8 seconds.
Now on to academic stuff:
SAT scores: CR 690, M 800, WS 660, overall 2150.
Notable SAT II scores:
Math IIC: 790
Physics: 800
Other Academic accomplishments:
High School class Salutatorian.
Accepted to, and currently attending, the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art.
notable accomplishments in college:
I was, as far as I know, the only student in my class of 30 Cooper Union students to be exempt from the linear algebra final. This exemption could only be obtained by averaging a 97 or higher over the first three exams. My scores were 100, 97, 96. The class averages were 78, 80, 57. These were all Cooper Union ENgineering Students, and on the third exam I outscored the average by 39 points.
Now that's what I call Aspie Power.
