Nuh-uh. Don't reckon the movie is, anyway. (DVD Extras?) It's by the same guy who wrote "Rain Man".

Ron Bass, the producer of Rain Man produced this film as well. However, the story is based on the real life Aspie couple Jerry & Mary Newport. There is also a book with the same title due for release in January 2007.

I just bought the DVD Yesterday, and thought the movie was OK, though it tended to make characatures of the all of the people in somewhat the same way that Fargo made characatures of Northern Midwestern people.
My biggest letdown though was the fact that they didn't also include a an interview with Jerry Newport and his wife to perhaps add some contrast to the movie.

It's already in Australia. Came out in June 2006.

Yup. Same in NZ. It did actually come out in Region 4 a lot earlier than in America.
(The first time I saw it in the shop, and just looked at the cover, I thought that costume was a penguin.)
I just watched my copy again. Love the way that many of the characters seem to understand each others' quirks so well.
