It doesn't matter for me how messed up the education system is, because I'm in a Charter School that doesn't have to listen to the Board ^_^.  Also I'm in Canada.

Okay, This is mainly for people that live in the USA. Have you noticed how screwed the school system is.

Every time i hear it i cringe, i always wonder how someone's parent is going to be competent enough in all the different subjects that are usually taught.

It's not a matter of being "competent enough", it's a matter of being less incompetent than the government-hired teachers.  In general, homeschooled children do better on standardized tests than do government-educated children in the USA.  Likewise, homeschoolers are not a group of isolates who communicate with nobody.  There are large networks of homeschoolers here.

My experiences with teachers and such have been almost completely positive, they have almost all of them almost always tried to help me to the best of their abilities

Lucky you.  In the USA, government-run schools are often the worst possible schools in an area.

I can't vote on this poll - My answer is "it depends". Many on here know what I think about how hard it is to get a school to wrok properly for a kid who is a differnt learner or that I am against the whole middle school idea - not natural.  Many schools do okay but the size of the school I think matter a lot.  There is an old homeschool thread on here that talks baout alot of this - I found it to be very interesting.... as usual ATM had great posts... and I think I was first introdiced to dogbrain on that thread.... Also I realize this topic/thread/poll is very old as is Dogbrain posts here - but also very good!

Anyone posting on here - recently/currently - in a school system that is "screwing you" now? or doing something right? What grade? What state?
Well, this was ages a go, really. [Btw, NSW, Aussie here.]

When I got bullied[... For YEARS, I might add], all the administration did was give the bullies a theoretical slap-on-the-wrist. *scowls* Argh. Yeah, going to put the smackdown on schoolyard bullying my @$$.

*tirades*

Hmm. That stands out most... but I know they did more wrong, too. I just don't feel like remembering it... *sighs* Mehh.
