The idea that time goes "slower" and "faster" is simply absurd.
I'm afraid that (just as 500 years ago scientists had clashes with the clergy) we shall soon be seeing neo-thinkers challenging contemporary scientists. Unlucky - and funnily(!) - scientists have become a sort of new type of clergy.
The Clergy had combined divine axioms with mundane superstitions. The results? Science wiped out the church.
In our time we are seeing scientists coming up with the most absurd of ideas presented to us as a sort of "New Philosophy". The consequence? A new generation of neo-thinkers will be mocking the absurdities and science will be cleaned up.
How can time go slower or faster? "Now" is always "now". It's never "before" or "earlier" or "after" or "later", so actually time does not have any speed.
Time itself is static and stationary. It is us creatures that have a beginning and an end.
As regards to the perception that sadness slows time and happiness makes it run faster, it is just an emotional PERCEPTION ! ! ! ! !
As for Einstein's supposition that a father and his son would end up having the same age if one of them spends some time living on a distant planet, it has nothing to do with the speed of time ! ! ! ! !
That suppostition has got to do with the ageing of the cells of our bodies, ... and not with the "time going slower" or "time getting faster" funny concepts ! ! ! !
Now the argument is much clearer !
Rather than "time", we should say: perceived phase (if it is a feeling) or rate of degeneration of organisms (if it is biological).

Imagine two musicians playing together: one is repeating a minim and the other is repeating a semi-quaver. Yet the tempo is the same for both.

Now, say you wish to "go in the future". It is very easy to do it. Hibernate for a couple of months, and once you awake you will find yourself "in the future", i mean, you would have disengaged yourself from the FLOW OF TIME, then suddenly re-engage to a disconnected present ! This sounds funny of course ! Yeah, coz the concept of time-travel is funny!
But if you wish to PEEP into the future ! Ah! This is all the way different ! !
Yes, i have always believed that TIME and HEAT (energy) are related.
If it is true that the minimum possible quantity of heat is minus 273 celsius, then said temperature would be what i call a "State of Paralysis". If all of the universe were to have a heat of minus 273 C, then everywhere and everyone(!) would be in suspended animation.
APPEARED ! So it is perception again, not reality.
I disagree about being crushed. Rather, I think you would explode. If (thats a big if) the earth was uniform in composition, and perfectly spherical, and you were at the exact center, the earth would have a tendancy to collapse that void at the center. However, if that void were able to be held open, and you were in it, you would be pulled in all directions, since all around you there is a large amount of mass. The force gravity exerts on the surface is in one direction, toward the center. But if you are at the center, the force would be pulling you toward the center of the "shell" of earth around you, thus pulling you apart. You wouldn't be crushed, but rather explode.
Thats my theory. Let me know when someone tests it.
At some point, centrifugal force would counteract the gravity/antigravity and leave you stuck to one side of the hole.
If Edgar Rice Burroughs and some of the other writers are correct, and the earth is hollow, the exact center of the earth would be in mid-air. (I do not personally subscribe to this, even though there is some "evidence" that this may be the case.)
One would be able to dive into the hole and then reach the other side of earth?
I said vacuum as it will allow us to avoid friction (also pressures).
Anyway, this works well enough that the earth is smoother for it's size than a bowling ball. It may not be perfectly spherical, but its pretty darn close.
Except the earth spins. The angular momentum of that spin is great enough to have an effect. The earth bulges towards the equator. It's a lsightly squished sphere. Radially it's symmetrical. Pefecytly round viewed from the poles only.
I betting you knew this, just forgot to mention it.

I always thought time flowing was more of a contruct of the mind. Saying it speeds up or slows down is like saying north is going faster or left is going slower.
I think it is in fact just another spatial dimension.
Yes! I think you and I are on the same page on that.
Funny, but Frank Herbet nailed it in fiction in his second dune book. There is an anolgy made that peoples perceotion of time and events is like watching a horse walk by through a slit in a fence. You see first the head, then neck, various sections of the body, then the tail, and then proclaim "ah hah! I get it! the head causes the tail!"
Also the zen koan about the flags moving - the wind isn't causing the flags to move at all - they are in fact stationary. It is the mind that is moving. I think rather it's not even that - since one moment is connected to the next, we get the ILLUSION of moving conciousness. It seems to be moving since our memory connection only goes one way. You can recall everything up to "right now", therfore time seems to unfold events.
My mums response to my questions about where space/time ends was always that one would go insane thinking to much about those things.
Max engine force / linear_drag(kind of like air resistance)
Gravity / air resistance = max speed through the hole.
I don't know if you will burn up by friction in max speed, I don't think so. Think that it would require additional power.
You would go the fastest in the middle of the hole. Lets just ignore that it is very hot there.
the mantle is solid too.
first imagine a thin and very massive shell in outer space which is completely spherical, if you are outside the shell you will probably agrree that you get pulled towards the centre because that's the centre of its gravity, but if you are inside it's a different story because you get pulled upwards by the mass which is above you (it is a smaller mass, but much closer to you than the mass on the other side of the sphere) so they ballance each other and you are weightless (we proved this with equations which i am currently too lazy to provide).
what you do then is add more and more shells like this inside and inside each you are weightless, you can end up with a huge massive ball with a hole in the centre and there is no gravity inside.
you could also think about it in another way: when you are at the centre of the earth the gravity of the southern hemisphere pulls you south and the gravity of the northern hemisphere pulls you notrh and these two forces cancel each other out.
Of course, you would be killed anyway by the intense heat and pressure, for the core is hotter than the surface of the sun!
Also, even if you weren't in the center of the Earth, there would be less gravity as you dug deeper into the Earth because there is less overall mass that is attracting you. The gravity from the mass above you would cancel itself out.
