While browsing Amazon, I happened to come across these lists,
which I recognized as having been made by someone I know on this forum.
If she feels like identifying herself I will let that be her choice.
Although I haven't read most of these books,
I thought the lists could maybe turn out useful to others,
so I thought I would post them here.
Hope that's OK.
So here are, according to her opinions:

The GOOD:

The BAD and/or UGLY:

I can't manage to embed the links becos I only know how to do that in html,
not in BBCode or whatever.
Not very complimentary about the book by the Slater-Walker couple!
Interesting to see the option "Add to Wish List" when the reviews beside say things like, stereotype, tedious, worst book ever written.

I remember reading "Kristy and the Secret of Susan" when I was thirteen. Apparently Anne M. Martin did used to work with autistic kids and she also wrote another book about a non-verbal autistic and his brother. But both were written back in the days when almost all that people knew of autism WAS Kanner's type.

And... Well it's "Babysitter's Club", for crying out loud! Those books are so mass-produced and they always skim over issues. (Almost Degrassi style.) Anne M. Martin's writing style isn't brilliant either. But when I was 13 I enjoyed the book.

(My old copy has tooth marks where it was nearly devoured by our then four-month-old kitten.) Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin
Who was the Slater-Walker couple?
