i took my toddler to a local farm to pick a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch for halloween(i think the pumpkin thing for halloween might be an  american thing if that doesn't  make sense to some people). when we were walking back to the car this bitch started driving down the walking path and almost ran us down and cursed at us. then she got out of her car and put her big ugly face in my face and spit on me!     then she yelled at me that the path was for her because she is disabled.
i was so incredibly angry and i couldn't even do anything about it because my little boy was there. he started backing off into the bushes holding his doll and cowering when she got out of the car. it was horrible. if you can't be safe at the organic farm where can you be safe?!? if my son hadn't been with me she would have had one of my knives on her neck. i never know what else to do in these situations. i either stand there and don't say anything( like i did this time) and get confused, or i get very violent. waht is the best thing to do in these situations and how would all of you handled it? (please exuse the ranting Sad )
The best thing to do is just apologize, say you didn't know and get out of her sight as fast as you can.  Be very civil and let her think she's right even though you know she's not.  Crazy people will do anything.
There are some physically disabled people who are extremely prejudiced and just plain ignorant and rude.  They call non-physically disabled people "ableists" and are just plain hostile and violent toward them.  They can not fathom that someone might not understand their body language or non-verbal or verbal communication.  They never think that someone might have a non-physical or invisible disability.  They are jerks.
you know she didn't even seem to be physically disabled which confused me.
The best you can do is be civil to someone who's being rude to you. Not always easy, sure. But if you can manage it, then it's the other person who looks and possibly even will feel stupid.

Sure some people can make you so mad that you feel mad at them for years to come. (Trust me, I know this.) It's true she had no right to abuse you from the outset. People should be more understanding when someone makes an honest mistake. But it's not your problem if she's having a bad day, it's hers.

PS. (Off topic.) I think most people not from America have seen the pumpkin tradition from the movies & TV anyway.   I never celebrated Halloween myself, but am pretty familiar with the traditions.
