  just came with a thought that could may be discussed here. if we have a small tunnel with no air and nothing else but a tiny light ball in the end of the tunnel, will then the ball be sucked to the middle of the tunnel
Erkolos welcome, I like your style!  Big Grin

Wouldnt there need to be some force at one end of the tunnel in order to cause movement of the ball?
What does the light ball consist of?

What is the tunnel in?

Is it dark in the tunnel?
I also thought that it had to be something on the side of the the ball there there are less place in the tunnel to make it move but if we think that the sucking power on the other side of the ball would be bigger because it is more vaacum, the ball will go to the middle of the tunnel because there there are the same sucking power on each side. the ball and the tunnel could be of something that could make the ball roll, and the ball would be light as i said if you may misunderstood thinking it was a lightning ball. there shall not be any energi that could disturb the experiment.
How could the light be contained in the ball? Wouldnt it just flow through both ends of the tunnel at the speed of light?
when i said light i meant that the ball was not weighty. I may think i am wrong about the theory now, because i now think that the vacuum have to some sort of smoothing out. so than if it is likely air preasure on both side of the ball it wouldnt affect the movement.

I thinked abot this thing because it would cool if we had trains who didnt need energy or transport of beings to move because the train would go through nothing that could slow down the object. this is surely possible in a way.
You are right, if the pressure was equal on both sides the ball would be static.

What about the moon idea?
On the poll I eather think I should asked: What about making a film about aliens killing people.

Then it would be very funny with the option "Whats the point, we are all going to die anyway"
If the moon was destroyed, there would be no tides, and the world would be flooded.
Cool!
What exactly is your justification for saying that not having tides woudl cause flooding?

Well, sea levels would stay the same all the time, and this would lead to lots of problems, such as places that need to operate in low tide would be renedered useless.

There would be no suction on the ball due to there being a vacuum. I'm guessing the ball doesn't contain a vacuum itself...

So, the air inside the ball would be trying to escape out in every direction, so to equal it out wouldn't it go to the middle of the vacuum? Depending on the ball pressure, it could be just pulled to the floor by gravity, if it's near something that would have gravitational effects.

If a train were suspended in a vacuum, it'd have to be powered by magnets or something. Sounds about right. Bad if an accident happened and everyone got sucked out into the vacuum!

Welcome.
WHY DOES THIS THREAD EXIST??? WHY???  WHAT HAVE I DONE???

the ball would EXPLODE unless made of something with high tensile strength, otherwise the ball would not move unless there were air on one side and a vacuum on the other, in which case it would be shot towards the vacuum.

blowing up the moon would not cause any kind of apocalypse.  sure, there would be chaos due to the large number of natural cycles that operate by the moon, but no exploding earth.  sure, tide disruptions will make trouble for low lying areas but not exactly armageddon...  make navigation a LOT easier though.

maglev trains in vacuum/VLP tunnels are already under consideration for a transatlantic underwater tunnel.
