I have just submitted a video to Amy for approval that is basically a capture from Exorcist II with my comments as framing. I am sure it will be available soon. But if anyone wants to suggest another film to be included in this little department, now is the time. My next planned "victim" will be either Mozart And The Whale or Rain Man.
I think the portrayal of an autistic savant in Rainman was quite good and it's also interesting to note that the character played by Tom Cruise showed clear signs of being Aspergic eg. he was very focused on the one thing, he repeated himself, and his interpersonal skills were not good.
And the guy that M&tW is based on, said it came out pretty good. He's a member here in this forum.
Calling Raymond Babbit high-functioning is a large part of the reason wankers tell us we are not autistic because we don't scream when someone farts in our general direction.
As for whatshisname, he is only supporting the film in the hope that he still might get his day in the sun. Both films are written by the same man, whose groin I wish to kick until he is sterile. Or do you honestly believe an Aspie who used to think of abuse as expectation would have to narrowly avoid puking into a $2500 plasma TV if he was happy about what he was seeing?
I do not know what planet Ronald Bass lives on, but Aspies barking at each other like dogs (or basically telegraphing their Aspieness for all to see) is like the Loch Ness monster. You can hold out hope you will see it, but the chances are slim to bugger all. In fact, MATW is an insult to the very fact that I often had more face time with some of the country's highest-up medical professionals than my own parents and they still didn't get that I was autistic. Maybe Ronald could do with some prison time, stretch that rectum a bit in preparation for where I am going to put my baseball bat when I meet him.
Now, are there any actual nominees?
Since I tend to avoid fiction as if it were something for which I have no taste, I've got nuttin'
Iron man, maybe I misphrased my comment a bit. I meant that the Tom Cruise character also showed clear signs of having autism.
I can't comment on Mozart & The Whale as I haven't watched it but I don't know if it's a movie I'd like or not.
Well, I think that has a lot more to do with the fact that Cruise simply cannot act.
Iron Man, I think you have a valid point there.
Iron Man, I have an embarrassing reaction if somebody farts in my general direction. I go red in the face and start to giggle. Mum says it's very rude and I should pretend I don't notice (and I try) but it's hard not to react.
I don't know if this is an Aspie thing or not. I get the same reaction if somebody burps loudly in the vicinity.
