Aye, something must be wrong with the approach then. A case of (unconsciously) gender role stereotyping, which gives the psychiatrists of a today something to study again as it is a flaw compared to the diagnosis of young boys.

On the other hand, if they're not around and the parents are accepting of the little girl's behaviour, thing's won't change much of course.

This raises the question; if aspie females suddenly become "visible" in adulthood, what was happening to them all the time that they were kids?

Well, speaking as an adult female with AS, a lot of us were misdiagnosed as other things. I wasn't exactly "not visible" when I was a kid, they knew I had problems from the time I was young, but Asperger's wasn't a diagnosis yet, so I got labeled as all sorts of other stuff.

Yeah, I got kicked out of a psychiatry once, for "refusing to learn"

As recently as about 3 years ago, I was told that I fitted all the criteria for having Aspergers but couldn't possibly have it as I was female and adult.

Someone told me that in order to be diagnosed with ASC (Autistic Spectrum Conditions) in the UK, you first need to become an expert on the subject yourself. Then you need to contact a psychiatrist and explain to them exactly why you think you have such a condition. If your explanation is good enough, you will get a diagnosis. My own experience, here in Israel, was excatly the same...

I heard once that one of my videos was being used by an Israeli group...

Yes, a member of our group prepared Hebrew subtitles for your video monologue, so people who don't speak English can understand it.
