Aspies For Freedom

Perhaps

So far away, yet so very near
a tear worth a diamond, yet
melancholy and anger spawn only
unhappiness.
Freedom or death says ye old patriot
but was it not a million men
who died for no reason
just to uphold that statement?
Trapped within the strongest cage of all
when the words I seek
are beyond my arm's length and I find myself
a million miles short-
yet is that not the fate of the observer?
But for how long-
until true power be unsheathed and
the truth be revealed?
He in a dream chance to
nightmare if the shadow of time
overtakes him-
yet the soft rains chance
an awakening.
Time is chance to change, for
better or worse
as lost ships drift farther
out to sea.
Perhaps a storm draws near?
Irony finds itself in the lack of calm
Yet it is only to realize the rudder to choose
which to brave.
Through destiny or choice should two ships meet?
Chance to become greater than
the sum of the fleet
and perhaps come aground on friendly
shores beyond a distant storm.
