Cloudscape
written for a most spectacular sunrise
Clouds, brushed so subtly over the sunrise.
Above and beyond the deep blue calling me to its dreamy depths.
So few, the stars shimmer silently o’er sky serene
and so do I long to follow them into a faerie comfort of sleeping souls.
A hint of red upon the clouds.
The stars begin to shy; less bright.
The dark blue depths, less dark, not dreamy
A sigh escapes with morning’s light.
The sun appears, the mist retreating
my sullen mind begins to wake.
The stars stop calling,
my heart still stalling
for a wish now fleeting
solace lost with the death of night.
