yes if he learn to type i was typing simple sentances at 5 i guess i when i was evalutated and diagonoused with PDD-NOS then latter to be an Aspie.there are 'talking' programs like write outloud.

I was on Topamax (in part, because the "psychiatrist"--and I use the term VERY lightly--pushed for the Bipolar diagnosis and believed very strongly that I had it, which I don't). The real problem with meds is that Autistic bodies tend to be extremely sensitive to meds... I was on the Topamax for a year and a half, and the last 6 months, I had ammonia poisoning. (If you look at the side effects list on the Topamax site, that is listed...I, of course, researched it, diagnosed it and my doctor completely agreed with me). I was only on 75 mg/day... theraputic dose begins at 400 mg/day.
One more thing.... with your son's speech, American Sign Language would be a wonderful alternative to verbal expression: you and your son both would have a way to interact with each other, and a whole other population of neuro-diverse people will open up to his world.
