I am between special interests.  It happened because I got some PTSD after a trip.  Now I am not longer interested in my former special interests and I am bored.

I want to start some new activities but I feel overwhelmed with doing anything.  I prefer to think about doing things than actually doing them such as researching, collecting materials and planning.   So I think about playing the guitar, read up on the internet about guitars, guitar playing and guitarist but I actually spend little time playing the guitar.  Guitar playing used to be a former special interest so many years ago for me.  I actually feel frustrated because I can not play at the level I used to anymore.

Does anyone else get this way?
YEAH. If you are still interested, keep trying. I read somewhere that people learn things up to 75% faster the second time around, even if they think they've forgotten it. What's that saying...? "It's like learning to ride a bicycle."
History, especially local history, used to be a special interest of mine.  But as I delved into what life was like in past times, it made me very depressed.  I have gone off anything 19th century, in particular.  It's an example of a special interest that has switched.
Ive had a selection of special interests over the years, but I don't think I could list all of them now.

I seem to have a knack for collecting interests to the point I seem to have lesser and more important interests that can vary in status depending on who I'm with -- which probably sounds odd and NTish to some when I stop and think about it. I could be wrong though.

So anyway, I guess the short point is I don't have much toruble switching interests.

Actually I might need to qualify this with another point:

I can't easily switch interests, mid stream of a conversation.
