We should have some idea of where we wish to purchase land. Perhaps somewhere near the Phillipine islands? Land seems to be relatively cheap there.
      Also, we will have to decide on some sort of defense planning, especially if we're gonna be on an island. Islands are easy for foreign armies to take now because they can surround them. Though I support a mechanical defense scenario over putting people in the line of fire... Robotic military is a new and superior idea to human militaries because if a robot is shot down in the line of fire, there are no tears to be shed, and it can more than likely be repaired and sent back to battle. And with Artificial intelligence there wouldn't be much a human could do that a robot couldn't do better. Plus a robot soldier can wear full-proof bullet-proof armor, which most human military soldiers can't. Robos can also analyze and organize information alot faster than humans, and are programmable to take orders, whereas humans may decide to disobey orders.

I do agree with robot soldiers, but only if used by both sides.  Otherwise it's just another instance of wealthier countries' soldiers killing disproportionate numbers of poorer countries' soldiers (and/or soldiers of countries who feel their people are disposable).

Why would someone want to invade your island anyway? War is all unecessary be it with E2RZs or with GI Joe. Think why wars happen and stop them before they begin...

He's implying those contries want full control over this export. Which means take over the country.

This does bring up an odd question: what would the exports of aspergia be like? Would it be the Foundation to the Four kingdoms (get that referance and you get a cyber-cookie)?

It's called thinking ahead. And yes, war is grim but unless you haven't noticed there is always war going on somewhere be it invasions or guerilla rebellions. It would pay to be prepared.

Well we shouldn't pick an island really until we're ready to, I mean we might select an island and say "this sounds good" but before we're ready to pay for the land someone else may have bought it. There will always be land for sale though, no worry. We just need to get this project in full gear and moving.

Did anybody hear about this Island that some people lived on before WW11 because it was "well away from any trouble"? Then during the war, there was a massive fight between the Japanese and the US/Allies and nearly everybody got wiped out?

I think it would be a good idea to be very careful about where to get hold of an Island. I for one wouldn't want to be involved in any wars - the whole idea of going onto a special island would be to get away from that kind of thing.

I have an interesting thought of (part of) an island we can occupy...

...Greenland - more specifically the Southeast part of it in the area of the Skaergaard intrusion. Very remote, nice tall majestic mountains (with beautiful intrusive mafic to ultramafic igneous rocks) with the aurora borealis "dancing" above the area (excelent stimming opportunities)

Alot of us seem to dislike heat. A cold area may suit us well, depending on how cold it is. Building a settlement on Greenland (even the relativily warmer southeast part) would be difficult, but it's still a possiblity (I would to live there).

We'd be able to get used to the climate but if possible I would prefer a colder climate

I think that the Pacific is a really good idea. Or Canada.
