I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but there seem to be a lot of very creative people brainstorming in this area of the forum, so I'll give it a try. Smile

I'd like to start a magazine or journal centered around creative work and relevent information by and about people on the autistic spectrum.  This could include things like the following:

-Writing
• short fiction
• poetry
• creative non-fiction
• articles in your area of special interest
• debates about political and social issues affecting us
• advice (e.g. finding a job, getting accommodations from school systems, coping with stress, parenting on the spectrum, community action, etc.)
• topical media reviews (books or television programs about autism, portrayals of autistic characters in fiction, reviews and news about musical and media projects by and about people on the spectrum)
• creative works in and about autlang
• announcements about autism-related events

-Art
• drawings/paintings
• photography
• digital art
• pictures of 3-d art, like sculpture or ceramics

Would anyone be interested in contributing to this type of project?  I'd probably start it online, but if there is sufficient interest, I'd like to turn it into a print publication.
You need Print-on-Demand.  Go straight to http://www.lulu.com/ and check out the photography journals that publish with them, such as JPG and 28MM.  Lulu are cheap, and the fact that quality photographers use them is a testament to the quality of the repro.

I also suggest, unless you have a magazine designer on hand, that you investigate magazine templates available, or have a custom one made  (hire a student on deviantart) for whatever software you'll use (I recommend Adobe InDesign CS2 + a day spent working through a "Quickstart" book on the software.)
I've got design/layout experience and have worked extensively with Adobe suite, so I'm not too worried about that.  ^_^

Thanks for the link!  I'll definitely check that out.
I have some artwork I would be interested in submitting but have to wait to get the images scanned on to my computer. Not sure how long this will take either.
