It's a medical TV Show. Next Episode:

Lines in the Sand
When three previous doctors are not able to diagnose why a severely autistic boy screams loudly for no apparent reason, House takes the case. Although the boy isn't sick, it becomes obvious to the team that House relates to the boy because he can't lie.
It certainly sounds like they're going to make House into an aspie. Here's another blurb describing the episode that gives more detail.

"House takes the case of Adam, a 10-year-old severely autistic boy who screams loudly for no apparent reason, at least not a reason his three previous doctors could diagnose. The team wonders why House is taking the case - the boy's not sick; his symptoms seem to be a product of his autism. House claims he just wants a patient who can't lie, but it seems he relates to this kid: the social aloofness, the obsession with detail, the lack of social graces. In fact, House actually envies him; living in a shell has its advantages. But when Cuddy makes a minor change to House's office and House refuses to use the office until it's returned to its original state, he finds himself wandering the hospital in need of a temporary home, crashing in Cuddy and Wilson's offices. Meanwhile, teenager Ali from the previous episode still has a crush on House and is becoming a nuisance around the hospital. As Adam becomes more ill and the torturous diagnostic procedures yield nothing, House realizes he needs an answer, and his patient just might be the only one who can give him one. House finds he has to break through the very shell he admires in order to get anything out of the boy in the "Lines in the Sand" episode of HOUSE airing Tuesday, Sept. 26 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT)."
I wouldn't have thought he was, but it sure sounds like they're going that route, doesn't it?

It'll be interesting to see this episode.  If nothing else, you don't see the "there may be advantages to autism" perspective show up often in prime time pop culture.

Though I'm sure we can count on all kinds of disparaging remarks about autistics from other characters in the show.  ¬_¬

The only fallout that I'm concerned about if they do decide to make House an aspie is that there will suddenly be a new flood of self-diagnosed teenagers who just want to be like House.

Yeah, but if they're taking their idea of AS from House, they'll be laughed out of any legitimate professional's office.

only one thing questions me...is the illiness related to autism or is it something else, like an actual disease? this is where the quackery could come in about gut problems, etc.

The disease is not realated to autism. House ends up finding out taht the kid has a form of worm.

OMG I JUST WATCHED IT!!!

I would never had thought of it before, but after Dr. Wilson explained from his book, and I could tell the Dr. Cameron was going to say something like that to House because she would start to say something on those lines but then be suddenly interrupted. After I saw that episode I was like, "he has to be" I mean, he could be boarderline or something.

I also liked it when how all the other doctors were mean to the kid and House was nice to him. I think this is a step forward for us.
idk i talked to a NT freind of mine whos a fan and she seems to think that house wishes he was an aspie so he would have an excuse for being a jerk

Well, that's the discussion that two other characters on the show had. The overall idea from the show made it seem otherwise, though.

I only got to see half of this. So it was a worm?

Well, to be more exact, it was worms (plural). The kid had eaten some of his sandbox sand, and the sand in the box had been theoretically tainted by an animal using it as a toilet. The worms had spread to a bunch of areas of the kid's body. The really gross part was that they were in his eyes, and he could see the little shadows of them swimming across his vision. That's why he kept drawing those squiggly lines.

some of the people at school who watched the show (i didn't, i just don't watch the show, but should have), think that house is getting more annoying and obnixous and getting worse.

I kinda agree on that, he isnt the same. But I still like it. Especially the part when he's in the chapel and when he yells, "you cant stop our love!"

Simon was sort of "selectively cuddly" and gave hugs to some people and screaming fits to others.

Prove that this is "laughably off".  Cite the literature.  Prove that there is one and only one manifestation of autism spectrum.

it's a short clip from the show about the kid.  very true, saying that the people in a elite circle make the rules and the ones outside the circle get called broken and made to be a part of their little circle.
There has been a lot of speculation as to whether or not House has Aspergers and in one show, he was tested for the condition. He was told he didn't have it but I think he shows some traits.

This is entirely consistent with the spectrum nature of autism.
