If you are very self conscious of eye contact and find it uncomfortable, try wearing mirrored sunglasses. You can practice eye contact or non-eye contact wearing them.
I usually wear sunglasses out because of the difficulties I have with eye contact. It takes away a lot of the awkwardness, knowing how much is too much etc.
I've tried sunglasses, but I feel uncomfortable wearing them. They make me look weird.
i usually accompany them with camoflage pants and a black jacket, so I suppose its a case of looking 'weirder'...
Heh, that sounds pretty cool.
I don't know, I've always been very casual when it comes to fashion. I feel uncomfortable with pretty much anything other than jeans and a T-shirt, even when it's cold. No accessories at all either.
Thanks
I am quite similar, I get very anxious wearing something I dont feel comfortable with, which is why I dont go to formal occasions very often unless it's unavoidable.
I also ignore the seasons when it comes to what I wear, which drives my family insane
Heh, I wore sweaters for the first half of my life. I'd be in school and practically freezing to death, then we'd have recess and I'd be hot. Now I just wear an undershirt so I can take whatever overshirt I have on off. A jacket might make more sense but those never seem to help if there's a breeze. Oh when will they make aerogel fiber jackets

.
I also find myself experiencing mild SAD in summer. I've always preferred winter, and the cold. I wore a 2-layer grey and black ski jacket all through secondary school
I have considered moving to a colder country, but it's not possible right now.

my ears make sunglasses looked crooked and i just look rediculous unless i couple them with a hat. i used to always wear a hat and sunglasses but whenever i went certain places people would say i looked like i was going to rob a bank and i had problems with security people. it also could have had something to do with the camo, combat boots and dog collar though! anyhow, i don't worry about the eye contact anymore. well,it still makes me very uncomfortable but i don't worry about other peoples opinion..whether i'm staring or avoiding it all together what is the big deal!!!! maybe i should just roll my eyes instead  hehehe.
I tend to walk around in a bubble, so I don't tend to notice people looking at me oddly.. or even checking me out -_^ which according to my BF does happen ..I always wear a cap, I have about a dozzen different ones, and it's always pulled right down to my eyebrows. I also wear sunglasses a lot, mostly because I find really bright sunny days uncomfortable.
When it comes to eye contact in a conversation, my way of handling it is the classic look just past the person I'm talking to.

i actually don't notice either but people would actually say these things to me and security bother me and question me which i thought was hillarious. i'm mean how scary can a 102 pound young woman really be??bright sun bothers me too. i can't go out at mid-day even wiht glasses.
Wow, i'm really relating to everything being posted on this forum. People stare at me to and i think it has something to do with walking with your head down. Normal humans are like vulchers for weakness, they can sense it a mile off so i tried walking with my head up one time and people didn't look at me so much. But i never kept up the holding my head up thing, it felt weird!

i look down when i walk. a friend said it's bc of my confidence level. now i'm not so sure.
i get looked/stared at. especially since i dress to wildly. when i go out to the country, i have all sorts of yokels looking. but in the city too, they look. it's really aggravating.
I look down because I hate eye contact. It's very hard for me. I know you're supposed to make eye contact, but, like one poster said, except when I'm talking to somebody, I don't know when else to look at someone's eyes (and eyes are scary to me). If I pass someone should I look at his eyes and say hi? Will he think I'm trying to pick him up? Should I stare at the nice older lady on the street corner or will she be afraid I'm going to mug her? I just avoid it by avoiding eye contact whenever possible. That way I don't know if anyone is staring at me either.
