New: find us on Second Life  (August 30th, 2006)
http://secondlife.com/

The "Autistic Liberation Front" has liberated itself autistic space on Second Life, courtesy of Autistics.org. Second Life is a 3-D interactive virtual world which makes ordinary chat seem, well, very ordinary. Unlike ordinary chat, Second Life is a perfect format for conferences, workshops, and discussion groups.

Unfortunately Second Life requires a newer computer with a better-quality video card. But if your computer is up to it, download one of the Second Life clients and stop by our complex at Porcupine 37, 185, 105.

Second Life is an amazing experience. Lets figure out how to use this new medium to our advantage.

This is a quote from http://autistics.org/

I am in the process of getting my compu configured to run SecondLife, so I haven't visited yet.

I will be glad to meet any of you there, though, as soon as I can get in, if you think you would like.

Hey, maybe AutFinity could exist in SecondLife first?

There are businesses there... Maybe could offer lessons in our special interests, or tech help, or design things, or... who knows what.

SecondLife's security has been compromised and people's passwords and encrypted credit card details were taken.

I would not join for at least a few weeks to ensure that they have tightened their security.

I went there for the first time, and experienced an attack on an area, so it does make me somewhat dubious.
I have now found the place and am there, no-one else is there, I can wait, maybe someone else will come.

How do I go there?

Once you have a second life account, and you enter, go to these co-ordinates
37, 185, 105.
This is me there now

Amanda Baggs and the Neurodiversity.com lady are at the AutCom conference this weekend.  And maybe Joel though I can't remember what they said.  Maybe that's why the place is deserted.  I suppose others from autistics.org might be around, though, as I doubt they are all travelling.

I still can't get into the world.  I think I need to buy the 150 ft cat5 cable and run it across the house...

PS: cute outfit, Amy!
