Gareth, do you think you might be going a little overboard by creating a board for every possible single topic? It seems the board count to regular poster ratio is somewhere around 1:1 and most of them are pretty idle. My experience with communities on the web would suggest for the moment, just a couple of boards - on topic and off topic.
And consolidate/reduce the number of sticky threads. 1 or 2 on a temporary basis is pretty average, but 9 on the general board alone just clutters up the first page of display.
