That's what this therapist that I saw advertised through a pop-up claims that some of the individuals with autism are likely misdiagnosed and she can help. Go figure.

Thats strange, I wonder what she actually means?
Yeah it would be interesting to find out... because the claims is that her 'method' can help with the following behavior issues/problems so to say:

Quote:
Parents and professionals now using the Kids Code process can see the potential for helping other people suffering similar circumstances. Due to pressures of society using clinical techniques it is often difficult to be introduced to a new way. Kids Code has helped families who have experienced difficulties with:

Babies not sleeping
Tantrums with toddlers
Hyperactivity in young children
Speech and communication problems in infants
Developmental delays with young children
Young children at risk of diagnosis with Autism, ADD, Asperger’s Syndrome
Discipline issues with young children
Unhappy children
Emotional and destructive behaviours in childcare centres
Special needs children with challenging behaviours
Refusal to go to school
Bullying in schools
Calming groups of small children
Managing foster children

It does make one question just how many people have been misdiagnosed if people are 'cashing' in on it :/
Brightman, I agree with you on that but how much of it is making parents doubt their 'children' too and go into denial that their child has autism and that it 'exists'.
Has anyone sent for the details?

Apart from the misdiagnoses arising from the DSM criteria (which needn't involve "autism" as such) doesn't much of the confusion arise from what is laughingly called "Modern" parenting?

Young mothers are increasingly told be "experts" to let their children develop their own self expression (i.e. do whatever they like in the early years) and so the kids have no understanding of discipline (self or otherwise) nor restraint, which is surely the root cause of the recent spate of hooliganism and tantrums and, when coupled with over-eating of poor nutrition, hyperactivity. Witness the following, overheard in a launderette:

"I don't know what they do with kids in school nowadays; they don't even seem to teach them basic manners...".

No I didn't slap her; pity the poor teachers who are expected to cope with kids who haven't even been introduced to "please" and "thank you"! A recent addition to "evidence of autism", is this "tantrums" business, but earlier definitions don't even mention it. From what I've studied of the classic understanding of autism, there's not the slightest suggestion it could lead to tantrums; quite the opposite in fact! Sure, Asplings will experience more frustration than more kids, but any tendency to explode suggests over-indulgeant parenting, rather than any fundamental predisposition!
It's a very good thing that parents tend to resemble their own children, because asplings who have an iron will need parents with a similar character to stand up to them.   Whether you call it iron will, bad temper, excitability or tantrums, I think it is true that asplings have more of it than most. It's the flip side of enthusiasm and persistence. There's a good side and a bad side to most human traits. I have once met a mother of a young girl who once said that she and her partner had never smacked or yelled at their daughter. She was a nice, quiet little girl, but I bet she never had an original idea in her life.

When my kids were little I supervised them more closely than other parents, and I believe proper parental and teacher supervision and discipline would stop many of the "behavioural problems" that some children supposedly have. I don't think it is any coincidence that some of the worst-behaved kids that my kids know have Mums who seem to know nothing at all about nutrition.
"It is Life, Jim, but not as we know it."

So... Who is this "Jenny"? I haven't seen anything on her education and credentials, unless I missed it and somebody can point it out to me. My Q is: is she a legitimate professional or a fly-by-nighter? Is all of her material based on truth, or is it some very well-concocted fiction titilating every Aspie's most vulnerable facet?

I see an offer of "free information" if you "e-mail" for it. So who else is going to get your e-mail address if you do e-mail her? I'm sure you'll find out with all the spam that will come to your e-mail box like moths to your porch light. For these reasons, I wouldn't dare take that step and I never order anything through the 'net. I'm the type that will "physically go to the source" for whatever I need or want. My door is adorned with a "No Agents, Peddlers, or Solicitors" sign and I always hang up on telemarketers.

Also, if you e-mailed "Jenny" for the info, I'm sure there will be a lot of $ signs all over the place. "Jenny" also mentions about offering support "over the phone". How is she really working? Like one of those 1-900 numbers? She may be just a good listener for the $$$.

Am I sounding judgmental here? Maybe, but I speak as one who's been suckered in more ways and more times than I care to mention. Be careful, folks!
