As posted about in the other thread, Gowron has for personal reasons recently left chatautism and delinked his server (rinoa).
This means that we are now currently on the look-out for a new server to replace the lost capacity. Anyone who is able to help in this regard please feel free to contact me or any of the other chatautism admin team (jilles, Pikachu, Whoever and Amy).
We require the following to run a server:
*A stable connection (preferably with a static IP, but this is not an absolute must)
*A linux, BSD or other *nix OS with suitable development tools installed
*Ability to accept inbound connections on port 6667 (if you are using a home DSL router this can be setup with port forwarding)
I can't actually deal with having a server in my house, but I probably have either an entire computer or at least most of a computer that I'd be willing to donate to someone else for them to use as the server.
Is this why I can't connect to chatautism?
Please PM me your IP address and I will look into the matter. If you are trying to connect to rinoa it will of course not work. Please try the following:
irc.chatautism.com
autopia.uk.chatautism.com
xana.uk.chatautism.com
hexa.de.chatautism.com
If you PM me your IP address I can do a few tests to see if your ISP is blocking IRC for some reason.
irc.chatautism.com is the one I use. tried autopia.uk.chatautism.com. it works.
Someone should try getting some North-American servers going too. Anyone?
Pikhq will hopefully we running one in the future for us.
Any interest in testing some server software on IPv6? I've got a Linux machine here available with a static IPv6 subnet tunneled to it. I can't fully guarantee its reliability (yet), since it's not on a UPS and runs off my home network, but the machine is up 24/7 and open for development if you want to. It's not a heavy machine, a Celeron 800 with 128MB of RAM, running Ubuntu Linux 5.10 if I'm not mistaken (lemme check that). Pingable at
http://www.stoneynet.nl (v4) and poortje.stoneynet.nl (v6)

Hi There Like What's Up? How Rude!!! Someone just basically said "screw you" and didn't bother to give you time to get another server? That sux! What a nasty thing. So like no more IRC server network right? I can't make any of the network servers work.
I have a fiber optic and static IP connection here at the office. What does it take to get a server up and running? I'm not saying I'll do it but I'll certainly consider it... strongly consider it.
Please let me know at JoeLlama@znet.com

Wait... Why don't we use irc.starlink-irc.org ?? There is already a channel called #asperger on there and they seem like nice people. Why don't we temporarily set up our channels (all of them) on there?
Hrm?? I think I will now... we can talk about it there if you like.
Server: irc.starlink-irc.org
Channel: #chatautism
Please join (: I'll just give ops to amy and de-op myself if that's okay.
Oh... by the way... moo

I wouldn't jump to conclusions unless you know the whole story. A&G didn't seem that upset. This happened last year anyway.

The Servers are still up. Maybe a problem on your end.
Right, if Gareth is still in need of an extra IRC box, I've got a virtual private server running at AmsIX (CentOS, kernel 2.6), and it's not a problem to install all the development tools. Connections are wide open, dedicated 100Mbit landline.
