Developmental psychologists have argued people with autism do not find social stimuli rewarding. Chakrabarti's work supports this theory.

That's a bit of a dangerous statement.  I know what they mean by stimuli, but the statement itself is extremely vulnerable to misinterpretation and overgeneralization.  I'm more confused by strangers smiling at me than anything else, but I do enjoy being around people I like.

I agree. I like socializing with all of you on the forums, and my parents, and sister. It's just when I don't know people then I get overwhelmed.

agreed.  why they say this i don't know.

i guess they only study instutionaized autistics.

i like talking to people, and meeting people.  everyone thinks i'm extremely social.

it's probaly an old and outdated theory.

just wanted to add that when i was younger, i didnt' reallly want to talk at all or interact, becuase it seemed like nobody liked me at all.  it's probaly due to the bullying effect.  now that i'm older and have virtually no bullies, i feel alot more conftrable talking.

i think the problem is that they are trying to sometimes force autistics to interact with people that don't like them, especally when they are younger.

i think it's also we have prehaps a delay in social interaction compared to nt's.  but that's what i think.
