Hope that's OK with everyone.
How is that pronounced? (i.e, is the 'g' a hard or soft sound?)
Duplicate #1. Sad = have sung/sang. Pick something else.
This made me wonder: Should we avoid using 'e' to start any word? After all, 'e' is our negative. It could be confusing to have words that begin with 'e' but are not negative. Of course, if we follow the logical course of that thought, we would avoid all words ending in 'l', 'n', or 'd'.
Just tossing the thought out there.
Examples are telephone, internet, chocolate, coffee. Given the preference for words with 2, 3 and no more than 4 letters so far, these could be respectively in Autlang:
fon
net
tsoko/tsok/soko/sok
kofi/kof
I had this word when I saw another such word in the word list - pizza. I propose, as it's also a word understood in all languages, it should be in Autlang 'piza', 'piz' or 'pits'.
May I suggest 'choko' or 'chok' for chocolate. I like the others. I suggest we use 'piza' for pizza.
Congrats, I only found one duplicate! Of course, as more lists come in it will get harder and harder and I am sure I will start to miss them as words I'm not familiar with will begin to duplicate.
Sorry to be nitpicky....
Dave: Thanks. That's what I meant when I said I would have difficulty with words I wasn't as familiar with. For the most part those are words you came up with, so it is natural that you are more likely to notice them. I'm working on memorizing as much of Autlang's existing words as possible to prevent me missing things like that.
Qo and co are pronounced differently. The 'q', as we disscused earlier in this thread I believe, has an implied 'u' so that, spelled english-style, it would be quo. And so qo is pronounced quo, not co.
Understand?
Thus 'they', 'rew', becomes 'ru'.
yqueen,
There DOES seem to be a tendency with autistics to have difficulty understanding the passage of time, but that doesn't exactly lend itself to making a new clock.
If a sign language version of Autlang would be easiest for those auties who can't speak well/at all, I wholeheartedly aprove of inventing one. However, I'd heard that even that can be challenging for some people.
It requires further thought.
Those are really good. Just a few things:
I don't think 'shame' can be 'efa', because 'e' is a prefix meaning 'not' and it could get confusing. I don't know what 'fa' is or if we have a word that is 'fa' but we probably will eventually and then 'shame' and 'not fa' would be the same word.
How do you pronounce pikeat?
I am glad to see that the argument over whether or not Autlang is "worthwhile" has mostly ended.
However, if you STILL would like to continue arguing or just throw in your two cents, please PLEASE make a new thread on that topic and leave this one as a place to brainstorm the ACTUAL LANGUAGE.
Thank You.
I for one don't know what those are. I think you'll find that most of those in this project don't know more than the basics of language crafting. If you look and find we're missing something, go ahead and point it out- we'll all be grateful for the help!
This Ballastexistenz post struck very very very very close to home. THIS is the stuff I want in an autlang:

Well, it IS a project in it's first stages, which has been largely abandoned by people who lost interest or are too busy (ME!). It's supposed to have words like that in it by the time we're done, but obviously, we're not yet!
