i have recently begun to post some of my artwork on deviant art and i thought the site might be of interest to others because one could, technically, earn a bit of money from posters and prints if one is a subscriber. subscribing does cost around about 26 dollers per year, which might be a bit expensive for some but i'd be willing to buy a subscription for the site if there was interest, just to get it started, it'd be a joint thing where anyone could post their artwork (though i'm not sure how that would work out with getting the money to individuals, so it needs a bit of thought. have a look at the site, it's http:www.deviantart.com and let me know what you think.
There are mainstream websites - Cafepress(US) and Spreadshirt (EU)- where you can post artwork (create "shops" for artwork) for free, but the companies then take a biggish % if and when you make a sale.
The plus side of it is that if you have your own website you can put links to the "shop" and people can buy products (tee shirts, mugs, notebooks etc or just a conventional print or poster)with the artwork on and you don't have to deal with the customer directly unlike ebay etc
There may be potential in this .... I've no idea if anyone could make a living this way but it could be a "fun" thing to do.

okay, i am looking at spreadshirt now, it looks a bit complicated :)

yes, that's a distinct advantage.

thank you :)
I can also highly recommend
http://www.lulu.com for self-publishing. Cheap and yet excellent quality. People publish fine-art photography magazines with them, that's how good they are. The downside is you have to do all the layout and typography yourself - but they do have free templates for Word and Photoshop. I did a big family-tree book with them, and it was superb.
hi, thank you for your reply. you know, i wouldn't know what to write about or publish. i do fractal pictures, i like doing them, a lot to the point where i get quite obsessed about making the 'perfect' fractal :). i am also interested in physics, a lot, but i don't do maths, so i try to do it in pictures. i work top down and so you never know if one has missed something very obvious etc.
i have also atm a lot of trouble verbalising, or making concrete my thoughts, so writing is difficult and when i do write i tend to go off in obsessive tangents. which can make me quite miserable, so, writing seems to be a thing best avoided perhaps. i don't know. bit like looking in the mirror and getting all miserable if that makes sense.
i think it's to do with not liking being confronted with 'self', and, i think that's to do with not see-ing oneself and so 'see-ing' onsself is very unpleasent. indeed.
it really bothers me the idea that others can see me 'better' than i can see myself. does that make sense ? i think that also ties in with the not liking to being photographed, definately hate that. and hate photos of myself, because one is being confronted with 'self'. really not sure if that makes sense ?
so, the problem is, i don't know what to publish.
Nice to know you Sammi!
I wondered if only adults may post pictures at pages like Deviant art. Also, if I ever were to post a pic through AFF's account, could I chat at Deviant art then?
I have a deviant art, but I hardly post anything.
Thx Meiloyn. I know you are 13 from another post.
I have one, but, I have to warn ya, a lot of the art (particularly older crap) sucks.
