On the EQ test I got 26, on the SQ I got 22.
Appearantly, that score on the SQ is abnormal for anyone, aspie or NT, so I'm not entirely sure what's going on there.
Most likely it was bad choice of questions. Most of the things they asked about- machines, tools, ect- I'm not interested in. But things relating to the natural world? I' interested in those, so yes, I'm interested in how they work, in catagorizing them, ect.
If I retook this test I might score higher.
Mind In the Eyes test I scored 31, just above the normal range. This seems to foloow a pattern for me, that I've intelectually learned how to decode facial expressions as a sort of 'defense mechanism', if you will. I'm not sure if my anylitical aproach to answering the questions in that test was the same an NT would have used; I think they generally go with a 'feeling'.
I scored 34 on the ASQ.
I was curious how I would do, since I consider myself more NT than not, albeit with a few Aspie traits.
So ..
Empathy 43 (in the average range)
Systemizing 9 (well below average and opposite of Aspie)
Spectrum 11 (average, not Aspie, although it's worth noting that I would have answered a lot differently 25 years ago)
Mind in Eyes 20 (just out of average range - without the rest of the face and not knowing those people it is really confusing to me - I use a whole combination of clues, and I definitely read into eyes, but I read things like sparkle that aren't in BW photos, so this is a way I'm more Aspie I guess)
Richard - perhaps you are more aware of the details involved in the expressions and that has helped you to read them. Perhaps you've learned key things to look for, in a more systematic and intellectual way. To me, just seeing eyes in BW is insanely unreal, I don't know what to look for, since I'm not used to thinking about it, and my first reaction often was not on the list. Give me a face with motion and color and I feel comfortable I could read it - but these photos, drive me nuts.
Or, maybe, I'm a lot less socially adept than I think I am!
Systemizing: 72 (Very high, likely for an Aspie)
Empathy: 14 (Likely for an Aspie)
AS: 36 (Idem dito)
Mind in the eyes: 25 (average)
Mine:
Empathy 22 (surprised me!)
Eyes: 10 (didn't surprise me at all)
AS: 44
SQ: 65
Ok this probably confirms that I'm either Aspie-lite at most or something else altogether...
very Non Aspie scores
AQ: 34 or 35 (right on the dot for supposed Aspie average though the average her would be a lot higher..)
SQ: 18 (opposite of Aspie)
Mind in the eyes: 29 (again, opposite of aspie but like sophist--was it sophist?-- I rarely make eye contact anyway so this ability mgith be somewhat redundant)
EQ: 41 (average for NT Male)
I found out that they do adult neuroopsych testing at the local uni for an affordable fee, but then i emailed them presenting them with my situation they said they couldn't do adult testing for me and if i wanted they had someone who did children's neuropsych test. Whats up with that? I did tell them i was uni age...
I think we all need to remember that the items tested include many things that will evolve and change over time, as we as individuals change, learn and grow. This kind of on-line test can't really measure how your brain works. Shoot, all the tests are somewhat inexact.
If you get a score that doesn't make sense to you, perhaps you can consider how much you've worked on yourself in that area. If you haven't, and it's always been your nature, then it's time to look further at your diagnosis.
Okay, so from the lack of responses, I'm assuming nobody recognized GW Bush, Keanu Reeves, or Paul Newman from that eyes test?...
I don't doubt you are right, but I was so frustrated with those pictures I couldn't "see" beyond my frustration.
I must be Aspie on reading on eyes. Or worse at it, actually. I'm getting the impression that most of you have learned what eyes to side mean, etc., while I look at "glow" and mouths and other things those annoying pictures did not include.
The eyes test was HARD to do. I suffered and agonized through it. Most of the questions didn't have answers that seemed anywhere near what I thought the expressions were.
me too.
-------
Systemizing : 60
Empathy : 16
AS : 41
Eyes :13
(female)
I scored 32 (Out of 135). Lower than Aspie score. Billy no-mates
Ah, don't cry Richard! I got 35 - we can hang out (over the email...)
Alison
I could lock them in my cupboard perhaps? (joke, i'm not insane)
No, no, it must be a cell with chains and a skeleton in the corner or nothing...
I can lend you some cobwebs to hang in the corners; I have a pet Daddy Long Legs spider...
BTW, Lauren just did the test and got 10. Vernu did it and got 112. So it looks like he's an NT.
Alison
I've done the EQ and SQ before and got 10 each. I'd never done the eyes test, though, but just did and got 17. Basically, I had no clue. I'm actually more of a systemizer than my score suggests...they just weren't testing on systems I'm interested in. Don't know what the friendship test is...will plow through preceding posts.
Friendship quotient...68.
I took the AQ before also but forget the score...30something.
I'm female, and I scored way more aspie than I expected to.
Empathy quotient: 14
Systemizing quotient: 48
Autism Spectrum quotient: Your score: 41
Mind in the eyes: 14
Systemising - 16
Empathy - 33
Autism Spectrum - 27
Mind in the eyes - 23
I'm not remotely interested in maths or science so I didn't expect to get a high score for systemising but I never thought it would be that low. Empathy is probably where I expected it to be while I thought the autism spectrum score would be higher. I hardly ever make eye contact but do have some understanding of facial expressions so the last score's probably where I would have expected.
For those who got an average or higher than average score on the Mind in the eyes test -- do you remember which questions you got wrong? It would be helpful to compare the ones we got right and wrong.
