My son has horrible aggression outbursts and to give him the chance to manage them he is on Risperdal/Risperidon on a quite low dose. I had to rise the dose recently, for he had outgrown it, I guess. When I started medication it was on half the dose (with reasurring of the doctor) the Psychologist first recommended and we have been very carefully with increasing it.
So right now we are to have about two big explosions per day and a couple of smaller ones (which is far from being in any range of a normal family), including biting his younger brother  AND this is with a reduced amount of social stress, for it's still holidays over here.
Soon he will have to start at a new school and for he already had to leave two schools in the last year, the Psychologist recommended to increase the medication again to help my son to a good start at that school.
I am not sure about it. Until now I have not seen any negative effects of the medication on him, but I (and only I, not him) don't feel comfortable with psychopharmaceutics. But I really should give him the chance to be prosperous at his new school, shouldn't I?
