(I have not seen this, just read about it.  Sounds like Asimov's _Foundation_ crossed with _Northern Exposure_)

_Small town eccentrics populate 'Eureka'_

In "Eureka" (debuting 9 p.m., EDT/PDT, Tuesday, July 18, Sci-Fi Channel), a lost U.S. marshal (Colin Ferguson) stumbles upon a hidden town where the government has tucked the world's greatest geniuses. Because everyone is so advanced, the town is no ordinary place. It's high-tech, futuristic and filled with eccentrics who are safe from the crazy people of today's world.

   Yes, I posted about this show in the Entertainment forum when it first started.  In the very first episode, an autistic child named Kevin saved the day, and from then on I knew this was going to be one of my all-time favorite shows, and it is.
Besides which, it is very very funny.  The characters are amusing and almost every other sentence seems to be a witty joke.  Very good.
