Who's a fan of the new Doctor Who series, especially since season 2, like me?

David Tennant has a way of putting down a great character, sometimes hilarious, and always fun to watch. His 'pinstripe with trenchcoat' look is IMO immedately signature (just like Tom Baker's scarf once was) and let's just say the Tenth Doctor has the suspicion of some.... traits. Wink

Who's a Who fan too?
over here we have a show called "dr. know" I like it alot, it's on discovery health channel
I loved the Tom Baker episodes and also the scottish one, sorry I forgot his name...

Right now we have the 9th Doctor and I am not all that into him... Only saw about 2 episodes and he was ok but the special effects were so hollywood-summer-blockbuster-movie-like that i didn't find the same feel as with the old Dr.Who shows.

does that make any sense?
My mother grew up with the third doctor and a fear of daleks   ...but anyway, I definately prefer 10th to 9th.  And I do like it, favorite ep from season/series one was "The Doctor Dances" and my favorite ep from season/series two was "School Reunion." the look on their faces=priceless.

Natalia, are you thinking of Sylvester McCoy?

Yes.  And now looking forward to the 10th Doctor

I like new Who, but frankly, it is a pity that they have just sound-bite stories rather than properly developed ones that take four or five episodes to play out (like in old Who).

For all the creaky sets, visitis to the quarry and poor special effects... Old Who had more atmosphere, more characterisation and better written stories.
I loved the latest series of Doctor Who - David Tennant has done a great job in making the character his own.

I went on cub camp to Miskin (just outside Cardiff) a couple of weeks ago, and on the hike one of the cubs talked to me for about two and a half hours about Doctor Who.  He talked not only about the recent two series, but also about the series that were on before he was born!  I did more listening than talking as I knew only about the latest two series, but now I feel as if I'm an expert in this subject.
My favourite Dr. Who was Jon Pertwee, but David Tennant has won my heart enough to be my second favourite   He is very good - it is just a pity that the stories are so under-developed.
AICN (Aint It Cool News) has reported that the First of the New Who has already been broadcast in the USA some months ago.

i like doctor who. i consider myself a whovian. the public television station that has cycled through the doctors -from william hartnell to sylvester mccoy (many times over)- dropped the time lord a couple of years ago, though it seems like longer.  just out of curiosity, does anyone know if the new doctors are being shown in the u.s. anywhere yet? tom baker forever!

I think it's SCI-FI channel.

I liked Patrick Troughton best, followed closely by Jon Pertwee.

The Daleks were the coolest villians ever but I was a bit scared of them when I first started watching Dr Who. I don't find the latest series so easy to follow so haven't really bothered to keep watching it.
Been a fan of the show since I was about 6. I like the new series a lot. It's not perfect of course but there's been quite a few good episodes so far.

And yeh, that woman being kept alive as a living paving slab was kinda disturbing.

quickduck

An oddly behaving loner with an interest in science. Someone who appears distant to his companions.

Dr Who might as well be an Aspie.

I liked the recent christmas episode (UK).

Has anyone seen the Dr Who spin-off show Touchwood? (a bit darker with more adult themes).

It isn’t Dr Who, but is still quite entertaining.
"Love And Monsters"... great ep, IMO, however I'm a bit disappointed by the way the vilain of the episode was put down, it certainly was too much of a comical character than the stereotypical bad guy. Nevertheless a great performance of especially Marc Warren and Shirley Henderson, and I think the personal top of the episode is the band scene, in which every one of the actors prove they can actually sing! (Which, unfortunately, was very rudely spoiled by the entrance of Kennedy)
I can totally agree on that one, partly also because I'm a Shirley Henderson fan, and am really fond of episodes which are based on character development. I currently have the idea to remodel the concept of L&M into a fan-film based concept (with different characters and a better story outcome) which may prove easier to film and produce than a "hardline" Who fan film. The reason the kid from the contest was so disappointed, BTW, is that he depicted the monster in question as (in his perspective) terrifying, but the episode writer in question decided that a comical touch would be more appropriate. And yes, the concrete slab epilogue should have definitely been cut IMO, and the whole episode feels (after the halfway mark) like they ran out of time to tell a decent story halfway and decided to make a quick ending. However the less involvement from the Doctor himself made this a more entertaining episode to watch - much like the "Lower Decks" episode on TNG where events on a storyline are depicted from a different perspective.
