Isn't it laughing at OCD?? I would be offended if someone got me that, I just don't think it's funny. :?
The TV show Monk laughs at OCD but also at people who don't have OCD and don't see the stuf that's obvious to Adrian Monk, the Obsessive Compulsive detective.

I think it's a fine line, but I remember reading that a lot of OCD people liked that show.  I think that if this figure is designed by OCD people, certainly they -at least the ones who worked on it- must think it's funny.

PS:  I think it's funny that I have to line up my whiteboard markers on my desk, preferably in color order...  My students think it's funny, too.  My OCD student thought it was funny, but practical, that she had to line up her books in order of size in her backpack ... go figure.

I agree. It just looks like another product people might use to make generalizations about people with OCD, or confirm that everyone with OCD is the stereotype that is perpetuated by them. We certainly don't need any more of that with Aspies.

Oh, man, here I was mentally designing all the different aceessories to go with the different special interests.

And just how moveable would the hands have to be in order to stim properly? Etc.

I think it's great.  Have you seen the other action figures they have?
Librarian, Crazy Cat Lady, Oscar Wilde, EA Poe, Beethoven, Lunch Lady, Albino Bowler, Mozart, etc.
If this is not poseable vinyl diversity, I donno what is!

Violet: well, dolls are necessarily a caricature, so maybe you have a point.

But I like these ones (with the exception of Jesus Action Figure, for reasons that are not pertinent to this thread).  And I think it's fun that they make figures of people who have different jobs than GI Joes, and people who are a little more eccentric than the My Happy Family (or whatever) dolls.
I wonder if it should be highly customizable (maybe even of indeterminate sex) and come with all sorts of hair and glasses so we can make it look like us... or opposite to us...
Or should the look be random among several looks?

(bad design, I know.  Should stick with one body in order to be able to massproduce easily... hmmm)

Now the other important thing is to decide whether the figure comes with its own random and therefore inexplicable set of perseverations (and accompanying accessories), like a real autistic who usually turns out different than expected by his/her family, or whether the purchaser can choose the special interest to match one's own.

The random options have the symbolic advantage: while people are not random, they can seem so to other people, especially when they don't understand each other.
I forgot to mention this earlier, if you look at the rest of the action figures, there are several famous possible autistics of the past on there.  Only by now the only one I can remember is Einstein.
I donno if this is a case for or against making a new autistic figure.

But I think there are sort of an historical category and also a "regular Joes/Janes" category, and the new autistic figure could be in that 2nd category.  Because some of us are just regular people, not geniuses.

Also, mechanical pencils

Oh, totally.
The shiny things in the photo are also spinny, how did I miss it?!

violet, it sounds nice, I should look for one.
... I have occasionally gotten 'lost' just looking into the combination of transparency and reflections in the back of a CD.
Our action figure needs tangents.

Oh Sad  ... well, each person has the right to not have the same sense of humor as some other people.

PS: even the people behind this figure have said something similar:

Quote:
Obsessive Compulsive Action Figure
The “Obsessive Compulsive Action Figure” was conceived and created by a group of people who have obsessive compulsive traits.

We do not believe we have any reason to be ashamed just because we have such traits.

In a humorous way our action figure expresses that our attention to organization, order and cleanliness, is a part of our lives, which we choose to see in a positive light.

Having and celebrating OC traits is our clear purpose in making this figure. Like the film, As Good As It Gets, with Jack Nicholson, we are what we are and we choose to present ourselves and our product in a humanizing and humorous way.

In a diverse and free society, it is only to be expected that some people may fail to see the humor and positive side to our product. We respect that choice.

Because we know that Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), in contrast to someone who has obsessive compulsive traits, is a serious condition that requires professional help, we refer people to the website of the OC Foundation (http://www.ocfoundation.org) for more information.

Given the condition of some public restrooms, I wouldn't blame anybody for washing before and after they go.
