Alrighty. I have a question to ask you all, what grades do you normally get?
It was (I've done my exams a year early, I'll be doing A-levels next year) the case where I was normally happy with anything in the 70/80's range, and my usual average was just above 80 in the more logical subjects (Computing, Maths, etc) while I'm doing craply in English (I just manage to avoid getting below 60, or C).
Modern Languages... impossible... I just refused to partake in alot or learn anything, I think I failed the exam.
I guess I'll find out in August.
80-low 90s
of course, every year I get about 60% in one course, when everything else is above 80. and, it's a different course every year. usually, it either has a horrible teacher or a really weird evaluation method.
I've figured out that I can do 4-5 classes. If I'm in a good mood I can do five, if I'm lazy I do four. This means that all classes past that point are kinda screwed, which is fairly unfortunate. One year it will be algebra, the next it will be science, this year my guess is that spanish is in the crosshairs. Oh well, I can balance things out. I get around a 3.25 grade average on good years.
1st-5th grade I went to a wierd school where our grades wer done in a 'check minus, check, check plus' format instead of letter grades or percentages. I can't remember it well, but I believe I got mainly check plusses, some checks (I do remember that I always wrote three times as much as I was supposed to and got extra credit for it!).
Then I switched to the alternative high school for seventh grade up (they take grades 7-12). Now I get mostly A's and B's but at least one C or lower per semester. I'm consistantly doing very badly in English, my absolute favorite class (?!); this year I flunked art because the teacher hates me. I had an emotional breakdown in his class and walked out on him, not to mention I (slightly) mistreated his camera, which, to hear him talk, is as bad as killing someone. Oh, horrors.
Somehow I managed to scrape an A in math despite not having done the homework ALL YEAR.
The american high-school system sounds... severely ****ed up. We'd never have such a disparity of grades despite differing efforts in those classes here. You'd do well in your favorite and you'd do crap in the one you hardly do anything for.
I usually get A's and B's except for math sometimes, And its not just the high School. Middle school and elementry are also screwed up, Its the whole amercian school system trying to get Aspies to act normal and slowly stop giving them the help they need. It really ticks me off to see such ignorant people running the school system. I blame Bushy and his band of idiots. Hope i helped some

Actually, my school (which is really abnormal compared to most US schools) is really good. The math teacher I spoke of was a temporary replacement for a teacher who went on sabatical. The replacement teacher was from the normal school and was awful. Ordinarily I don't think I could have gotten away with what I did.
And in my English class? I deserved what I got. That class required regualr writing in a journal, which I then had to turn in without being reminded to do so. I regularly wrote more than I had to, but only turned it in half of the time, as I could not remember that I was supposed to.
Plus I had an emotional breakdown on a test day and completely flunked the test, which is unusual for me (I almost always do really well on tests).

Here, here!
Straight A's for classes; individual tests are usually in the 90s. Math and computer science tests are usually around 100 on the high side; German language tests are usually in the high 80s to low 90s, as they involve difficult listening sections.
No matter how much I freak out about an assignment, I normally get it done and get a good grade. Even for one 5-paragraph essay (not an essay, but an argumentive format descended from medieval lawyers that is called an essay and taught in most schools instead of real essays) for which I had no inspiration and no idea, I managed to stay up until 2 AM and get it done, and ended up getting 98 on it.
But B's a pretty good result. Did your parents get such good marks when they were at school? I'll bet they probably didn't.

But because more people are getting Bs, the defintion of a "good" grade has moved up(especially where I live, where your lifew is supposed to revbolve around getting into college).
Yes, my parents expected me to get good grades but they didn't have a spak attack if I got a B. I was very disappointed in myself if I got less than a B (except in physical education, which I didn't care about).
Realistically speaking, not everyone is suited to going to college and going into a trade is a fine thing to do too. There is a terrible shortage of tradespeople where I live and something is finally going to be done about getting more employers to take on apprentices.
These days, "tradies" can make more money than a person with a degree just because they are so much in demand. There is nothing wrong in being a "tradie" if that is what you're talented at.
This forum is only for 16s and under tenaciousj.
If that's right, why are you on it Hmm? I only went on because this stuff about grades in school is a subject dear to my heart and I thought I might be able to help a bit.

Well, Amy and Gareth are the board administrators, so they can go whatever they want on the forum. But it was nice of you to tell us your story of when you were a student.
In 5th grade, I was extremely disorganized. I boycotted a lot of assignments, since I've always hated projects that involve prompts like "Imagine if you were.... Write a story describing your 'experience.'" Creative writing is really not my talent. But I've gotten much better at turning things in, and doing assignments that may not be the biggest joy. Nowadays, I get mostly A's and B's, sometimes C+'s.
