Major problem here.   Sad

Any thoughts on how to change their views before the next presidential election?

I don't think either of these two likely presidential candidates has an autistic child in their family (please correct me if I'm wrong).  They're not on a mission to cure anyone in particular, but they have been influenced by pro-cure propaganda in general.

I don't like people who are so easily taken in by propaganda. These are the same types that voted for the Patriot Act without reading it. I was relieved as all hell when I saw that Feingold wasn't on here.

I do not believe in single issue voting.  If I vote against the people in my district who supported this bill, I will vote instead for those who keep trying to take away my civil liberties, show no respect for the balance between income and expense, and more.  No deal.  It would be far better to educate these legislatures, as a supporter, on why there are issues with this bill.

I don't believe in that either, but its a symbol of what they believe in. This shows that they're taken in by propaganda and will vote for anything that pleases the idiots that vote for them.

If you can prove to me that the opposing candidates are any better, go for it.  It's the reality of politics, you have to do things that sound good so you can be elected.  The other guys are doing it, too, just with different issues.

Even though you disagree with the details in the autism bill, the fact that they are willing to try to deal with the concerns surrounding it is more a good thing than a bad thing.  More education will make future action better focused.

I agree with DW a mom. Issue voting can be a good idea, but for me, if I was faced with a leftist candidate who was pro-cure, and the only alternative was some far right nutter who wanted to ban abortion, scrap welfare for the poor and invade Iran, I'd have to support the pro-cure leftie.
I'm lucky to be from Congressman King's district. I'll be voting for him even if he voted for this.
