In the episode where he's snorting white powder, he had crushed up his vicodin to snort it-- it wasn't supposed to be cocaine.
I don't think he's an aspie, though. He manipulates others too well.
I never thought about House being an aspie. He seemed normal to me.
I knew Hugh Laurie was British. He played in 101 Dalmatians as Jasper. He's cute as House.
The whole of my family enjoy watching House but i cannot actually say i have ever watched it to tell you lot the truth.
House: Oh look at me, I'm so grumpy and cynical! Possibly because the first treatment I always prescribe half-kills the patient!
I saw the House episode last night and I was surprsied when this guy told him he didn't have it. So perhaps he has PDD-NOS instead since he didn't meet enough for the criteria. I decided to keep the episode on my TIVO. I reorded the show because it was going to be on and I wanted to be on the computer more so I TIVOed it. My computer is not in the same room as my TV.
House is a very entertaining show.
House is one of my favorite shows - right after Law and Order: Criminal Intent I hate that they are on at the same time now.
I saw the episode with the autistic boy - House didn't believe there was someone 'in there' and at the end the boy reached out and gave him a gift indicating his gratitude for having his life saved. House also indicated that he wished he was autistic like the boy because then he could do whatever he want without expectations on him and nobody would say anything about it.
I wouldnt' say House is an aspie - it is fiction - but some of the behaviors are similar to people on the spectrum, so maybe the writers had that in mind.
House could be borderline on the Aspie spectrum. That would mean he had the necessary skills to get through college and then find somewhere to do his internship but he also shows some Aspie traits eg. marked dislike for change, persistence, and dislike for boring social conventions.
Basic structure of an episode of "House"
1. Person gets sick.
2. Person goes to hospital.
3. House doesn't want to bother with them because he isn't interested.
4. House gets intrigued.
5. House and doctor sidekicks throw around some bizarre vocabulary.
6. One of doctor sidekicks is somehow personally effected by patient.
7. House winges about something (usually clinic) to Caddy.
8. Doctor sidekicks come up with possible solution.
9. (ALWAYS) First possible solution almost kills their patient.
10. One of doctor sidekicks proposes an idea that only about ten other people in the country have ever had in the history of forever.
11. Some kind of risky treatment is advised.
12. Risky treatment almost fails, but then it works.
13. Everyone goes home happy with miracle cure, except for House, who goes home lonely.
...Or something like that.
Third season about to come out here. I'm kind of looking forward to it.
I'd like to catch up with the rest of series one and two. A few months ago, I bought my younger daughter the box set of series one and she's now dropping hints she'd like me to get series two. The price has come down to about $50 Aus but I will check at JB Hi-Fi in Melbourne next month while I'm down there and see if they have it for any less.
I think I paid $50 Aus for the first series though. House still seems to me to be borderline Aspie. I think the diagnosis PDD-NOS is something of a cop-out.
Autistic kid episode showed for the first time on TV3 this week. It was interesting. I'm not sure whether or not I would think that House is aspie.
I love House its my favorite show.
I do not like the show for the medical stuff but for the psychological and philosophical play.
And I love it even more so because House is the closest character to an Aspie on TV.
Grey's anatomy seems to have too much romance stuff in it for my liking.
I think the same, Pakrat. My mom and sisters love "Grey's Anatomy", but whenever I try to watch it with them they get annoyed, because I keep saying, "Um, shouldn't the doctors be taking care of the patients?"
I much prefer "House", it's wittier, more my kind of humor. Dr. Cameron is bothering the heck out of me lately, though. She used to be so sweet.
<hugs>

Yeah Cameron's starting to bug me, too.
