I'm not sure this is where this should go but:
I watched the series premeire of a show called Eureka, on the SciFi channel, and was thrilled to discover an autistic character- Kevin, a little boy who is pivotal to the plot of the first episode. I guessed he was autistic even before his mother said he was; he calculated which day of the week the main character's birthday fell on in his head (tuesday). He ends up calculating the missing piece of a math problem necesary to the completion of a machine which will 'save the day'.
Eureka is a town full of scientists, where all America's new discoveries are made. As such, the show provides an ideal canvas for painting pictures of the acomplishments of autistics (albeit in a fictional context), as it did with Kevin, and I hope the writers will take advantage of this.
Also, the show looks like it'll be a lot of fun to watch. I'm looking forward to the next episode.
